What I Wore: Tribal Beads and Boyfriend Jeans

A quick update on New York weather: Mother Nature has lost her ever-loving mind. (And some folks think she’s going through a breakup, mad at her man and taking it out on us, etc. etc.). We’re currently in the middle of a heat wave, but before that, we were getting all kinds of rainy, chilly, freezing Fall weather…at the end of May. Is that even fair?

You know I wasn’t into that (coming back from New Orleans, especially) but I had no choice but to pull out some layered pieces that could keep me warm in the middle of Mother Nature’s temper tantrum.

I threw on a Forever 21 white blazer (atleast the color is summery!), a gray loose-fitting tank and some boyfriend jeans I picked up from ASOS.

I know, I know. I never wear jeans but what else can keep you warm in this tumultuous New York “Fall in Summer”? And boyfriend jeans just look so cool.

To accessorize, I wore my beloved Aldo ‘Weatherbee’ pumps (also worn here), an American Apparel clutch (seen here) and my new H&M statement necklace.

A word on that necklace: I learned about it from a fellow blogger, Danielle of Style and Beauty Doctor, who posted it on Instagram and literally, the photo stopped me in my tracks while I was scrolling through my timeline. I may have gasped aloud, which caused my boyfriend to ask worriedly: what just happened? (When he learned I was gasping over a necklace, he went back to watching the news completely unfazed. He’s used to this).

I couldn’t stop thinking about the necklace and told Danielle as much. And like the gem she is, she took me to the H&M she got it from and actually picked one out and handed it to me. That’s a true friend…to share fashion like that.

Anyway, it’s the necklace of my tribal beaded dreams and perfect to wear all season long, don’t you think? Hopefully, next time I’ll be in shorts. Since, you know, it is summer.
