Glamazon TV: Vanessa Williams and Sam Fine Give Me Tips For Younger-Looking Eyes!

Glamazons,

I’m always on a quest to find out how to look younger and less tired, especially during New York Fashion Week. Added bonus for tips that keep me looking refreshed in the sweltering heat. Can you relate? Well, lucky for both of us, I got tips from two of the most qualified people in the world to answer: makeup artist extraordinaire Sam Fine and the ever-beautiful, ageless Vanessa Williams.

I hung out with both of them (squeal!) poolside at New York’s chic Ink 48 Hotel rooftop for a Clear Eyes meet-and-greet last week.

How gorgeous was the set-up?!

Despite the sweltering weather, Vanessa Williams gave us effortless beauty with flawless makeup, bouncy, shiny hair and a gorgeous David Meister bodycon floral dress and bold heels (similar dress here). Seriously, she is stunning in person. I can’t even deal.

She was also gracious and candid when she opened up to us about the emotional reason she signed on as Clear Eyes‘ newest spokesbeauty:

“It came out of a personal tragedy, I guess. My dad died seven years ago. He was an organ donor, and we donated his eyes, his corneas, to the Eye-Bank of New York. I don’t know if you’ve seen our Eye-Bank posters or radio [public-service announcements], but my brother and I did a whole campaign about eye health and donation for eyes and how it was important for us to have my father’s memory and legacy live on through someone else.”

Beautiful, right?

She went on to say:

Clear Eyes knew that was my passion: eyes and eye health. They asked me to come along. It was a coincidence that when my lovely makeup artist Sam Fine … does my makeup, we always use Clear Eyes to make my eyes brighter in front of the camera, so it all worked out perfectly.”

So moving! Vanessa explained that she turns to Clear Eyes when she does shoots and taping for shows like “Ugly Betty and “Desperate Housewives,” and needs to look refreshed:

“When you’re doing film, you’re being called on set at 2 in the morning and you’re exhausted. In the morning is the perfect time to use Clear Eyes. And at night, when you’re doing shoots. “Ugly Betty” or “Desperate Housewives,” those were all films and made into episodes.”

I can completely relate. I love products that help me look like I got 8 hours of sleep after pulling an all-nighter. They are my absolute go-to beauty buys. Clear Eyes redness relief drops have always been a favorite of mine because they make your eyes white which in turn makes you look radiant and refreshed.

Vanessa, who is currently starring in “The Trip To Bountiful,” on Broadway, also keeps her eyes looking bright and youthful with priceless tips from her glamazing makeup artist, Sam Fine. Check out a few in the video below:

How great is that tip about lining your eyes using powder instead of pencil in the summer? I could have used it that day (pencil warms up with your body temperature and tends to run – I didn’t know!). Since talking with Sam, I now always use his highly-pigmented shadow from his collection for Fashion Fair to line my eyes instead of pencil. It’s worked amazingly well.

Here are more tips from Sam that I love:

1. Store Shiseido eye masks in the fridge in order to cool and de-puff the eyelids. Genius!

2. Set with loose powder because it’s lighter and not as highly-pigmented as pressed powder. You can crease in the eye area or find creasing throughout the day when you use pressed powder.

3. Use concealer. Concealer goes a long way whether you’re highlighting the eyes to bring them out or concealing a blemish.

4. Try bronzer because it adds a natural glow into the skin.

5. Go for mascara because it naturally plays up the eyes. Apply mascara then curl your lashes. If you apply mascara first before curling, it lasts longer.

6. Apply lip gloss because you can wear it alone or layer it over your favorite lipstick.

7. Base out your lips. Your lips have different tones naturally so base it out with a cream base using a sponge and then apply powder on top of that. Finally, apply your lipstick and liner. When you base out your lips first, the lipstick lasts longer, the color is truer and it doesn’t bleed as much. (Vanessa actually gave this tip! I used it in this post and saw the difference)

Guys, clearly, their tips work! Vanessa looked gorg even in the heat! She will star in Clear Eyes‘ national advertising campaign and in commercials which begin airing June 2013 (we saw a clip at the event and she was stunning in it).

What tips do you guys use to look refreshed, vibrant and alive? How do you keep your makeup flawless despite the summer heat? Spill all in the comments.

Use eye shadows smartly. If you have a deep set eyelid, apply a light color on the eye to bring it out. If your eyes are small, a blended smoky eye looks good because it will make your eyes appear bigger.
