Headed to the beach in Tobago with beach bag in hand
Glamazons,
My Dad always jokes that I’m a fish. On vacation, I go from the pool to the beach and back. I just love swimming and relaxing by the water. This may be because I grew up in New Jersey and always went down the shore (yes to Jersey shore land). This is random but when I grow up, I want to be one of those amazing grandmothers who has a house on the beach and a million stories from all her travels so all her grandkids love her. Can you imagine: retired and at the beach everyday with an adoring family? Can that please be my life?! Anyway, because of my obsession with the beach, I’ve got the beach bag packing thing down to a science.
Here’s what I threw in my beach bag during the Caribbean Crawl:
1. Coola SPF
I’m SO into spray SPF because it’s easy to apply, and re-apply, which gives you no excuse to go out without it. As we all know, SPF is a necessity…even when you’re not on the beach, or it’s not summertime. I love an easy way to protect my skin from harmful UVA rays and Coola SPF spray (which I scored on my trip to Vegas) provides just that. PLUS it’s cooling. Win.
2. Motions Hair Leave-in Conditioner
Not only do you have to protect your skin from harmful UVA rays, you have to protect your hair from salt water and chlorine. I give my hair much needed TLC with a moisturizing masque and cleanser (read all about that here) but when I’m headed to the beach, I’m sure to pack Motions Hair leave-in conditioner which comes in a convenient spray bottle. The conditioner acts as a protective layer, keeping your hair from absorbing so much chlorine and salt water. It’s an absolute must-have if you stay in the pool and ocean like I do.

3. Sunglasses
Besides being unbelievably chic, sunglasses serve an important purpose because I can’t stand the sun in my eyes. (Seriously, I’ve been making the same annoyed face since I was a kid when the sun gets in my face…which cracks me up because my goddaughter can’t stand the sun in her eyes either). I happened to find my favorite pair of Chanel shades which I’ve had since college the other day and now, they go with me everywhere, especially the beach.
4. Swimsuit
It’s important to have a swimsuit that makes you feel comfortable and sexy, and I found the swimwear love of my love in my ’50s style H&M high waisted brief and Peter Pilotto for Target bikini top (more on that here).

5. Coverup
If you ever have to go from tanning to running to your hotel room like I did, and don’t want to be completely naked, you’ll be glad you brought your coverup with you. I am obsessed with this one from Forever 21, which I also wore in New Orleans last year and Barbados in February. The more prints and bright colors, the better. Naturally.
6. A Good Book
I’m currently reading #GirlBoss and am so inspired by the journey of fashion entrepreneur, Sophia Amoruso, who founded Nasty Gal. It’s also an ode to female empowerment, which makes it an instant classic in my book. Will post a review when I’m done!
I always tell this story about these headphones: I bought a pair for myself and my brother and sister for Christmas. I was all ‘what’s the big deal about these $200 headphones?’ and decided to give them a test run before I went to bed by playing one of my old favorites: Aaliyah “Back and Forth.” Well, the song sounded so amazing in my Beats headphones that I spent the entire night playing my favorite songs because it was like hearing them again for the first time, and didn’t go to sleep until 4AM. That really happened. If you’re a music lover, these headphones are so worth the investment.
Okay so that’s it, I think. Will add more as it comes to me. In the meantime, a quick ode to all things beachy:
