A Day In The Life: Our Governor’s Ball Experience with Dove #RevitalizeMe

Glamazons, You probably already know this but I never tire of music festivals. I have two in New Orleans this year alone (Jazz Fest and Essence Festival) and I go to Afropunk every year. Governor’s Ball was extra special though because it’s my first time attending and seeing Drake and Future perform. So exciting!

Once we arrived at Randall’s Island for Governor’s Ball, we ran up the grassy (and muddy) hill to our Cabana and Glamazons, we were blown away. The Dove team outdid themselves.

Inspired by the Mandarin in Dove Go Fresh Revitalize body wash (which I also inadvertently matched my street style outfit with HERE), there were plush white couches and chairs with coordinating orange and navy pillows.

There was a charging station and basket with literally everything you could need from Dove deodorant to Advil to sunscreen.

And of course, there was an abundance of Dove Go Fresh Revitalize body wash and beauty bars. Like I told you HERE, I absolutely love the new body wash for its fresh (but not overpowering) scent of mandarin and tiare flower.

It’s also available in Restore with blue fig and orange blossom scent, Revive with pomegranate and lemon verbena scent and Cool Moisture with cucumber and green tea scent.

As great as it smells, it’s real draw is how it leaves my skin: hydrated, moisturized, nourished and soft. And I noticed a change immediately after just one shower. Apparently, I have its unique NutriumMoisture technology to thank for that. Look at how effective it is on an orange peel:

Pretty amazing, right? Pick the body wash up HERE and the beauty bar up HERE.

With all our beauty needs met, we settled in to experience the festival — my first time at Governor’s Ball ever. In between sets, we enjoyed eats like burgers, salad, brownies, cookies and fruit. We sipped unlimited drinks all day with tropical themes.

We got our nails done by Danielle Denise through Manicare, a nail service that comes to you and donates 10% to charity. Danielle was so sweet she even took off my gel manicure…

…before hooking me up with this gorgeous orange mani with negative space and nail jewelry.

My friends’ nails were equally cute.

Glamazons, it was my first time wearing nail jewelry and I’m so obsessed! And how cute was the mani station?

No festival is complete without flower crowns and Flash tattoos (duh!) and Dove hooked us up with both. Glamazon Andrea wore hers over her new twists.

So cute!

We also had way too much fun playing in bubbles. Everyone turned into a giddy 5 year-old chasing bubbles from Dove‘s bubble gun…or maybe that was just me (LOL!). And it was the set up for the most amazing Instagram pictures.

Look at me getting my life:

Too much fun. But of course, the biggest draw at Governor’s Ball is the music. We danced to Future and Rae Sremmurd:

And though some people complain about having to sit through acts they don’t necessarily follow, I was happy for the introduction to Chromeo and re-introduction to Florence and the Machine. I fell in love with both — they put on such a great show.

The act of the night was undoubtedly Drake and he put on the most amazing performance. Alone on the stage all night, he went through his extensive catalog, performing features like his verse on Fetty Wap‘s “My Way” and Nicki Minaj‘s “Truffle Butter” alongside album cuts from “If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late.”

It was amazing to see the crowd sing along to his more mainstream cuts like “Hold On, We’re Going Home” and “Started from the Bottom.” He even did a slow, R&B version of “Find Your Love” with a screen bearing a garden and fireplace. It was definitely the moodiest rap concert I’ve ever witnessed but I found it refreshing.

The crowd went wild when he did what’s arguably his biggest song out right now: “Know Yourself.” He instructed everyone to build up energy as the song got faster and we obliged. By the time he started the ubiquitous “riding through the 6 with my woes” refrain, we were all screaming and jumping up and down like crazy people.

Drake fittingly ended the night with “Legend” before a burst of fireworks lit up the night sky. It felt like a treat for the audience but also a signifier of just how big his star is shining these days.

I left thinking of how to get tickets to OVO Fest — he was that good. Catch a short clip I posted on Instagram:

This was my first time watching concerts from the balcony of a cabana and I loved it. You get a great view of the stage and you don’t have to deal with the mud and the (sometimes rowdy) crowd.

But there’s something to be said for the energy of being in the audience. We made sure to experience both and headed down from the cabana during Florence & The Machine for a few street style shots. You saw my outfit post HERE and Glamazon Andrea and I took a few flicks below:
