Dear Christian Louboutin,
There may be no one on this side of the Equator more obsessed with your shoes than I am. I spend hours searching the Christian Louboutin site and drooling over the many exquisite shoes works of art you so kindly share with the world. I know your collections and the seasons they were debuted like the back of my hand. So much so I can say confidently there are few, if any, pairs I haven’t seen.
I currently own seven pairs, one of which I’ve never worn out of the house for fear of a drop of dirty New York City mud puddle water landing on them. I love those shoes more than I do some people, certainly more than I love most men.
But out of all the shoes I’ve worn, tried on and purchased, I only feel comfortable in four pairs (all have platforms). The others are so very painful that I vacillate between feeling as if I’m walking on stilts or my toes are being strangled and suffocated. And this is after spending my life walking in 6-inch heels and buying your shoes a size up.
Now I know why. You told The New Yorker:
“I hate the whole concept of comfort! It’s like when people say, ‘Well, we’re not really in love, but we’re in a comfortable relationship.’ You’re abandoning a lot of ideas when you are too into comfort. ‘Comfy’—that’s one of the worst words! I just picture a woman feeling bad, with a big bottle of alcohol, really puffy. It’s really depressing, but she likes her life because she has comfortable clogs.”
I’m not a fan of clogs and yes, I am deeply in love with your shoes. But like a shady guy, I give them all my money and love, and they treat me horribly in return.
I’m not proud of this: but I have suffered immensely, enduring pain and sometimes injury just to wear one of your stunningly beautiful shoes. And apparently, I’m not alone.
While I blindly believed celebs felt no pain in Christian Louboutins, it’s come to my attention that both Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez were attacked by the Very Mix spiked peeptoe heels.
At the 2011 Grammy Awards before she had to present an award, it’s rumored that paramedics rushed to JLo’s room after she stabbed herself with one of the spikes. Via Coco Perez, “it was a small puncture but the blood wouldn’t stop.” She finally had to face the stage with band-aids on her wound.
Kim Kardashian was cut by the same shoes on her birthday no less. Bleeding ensued.
I’ve bled in pointe shoes, but stilettos? That’s taking it too far.
I also caught a picture of Beyonce taking them off in the studio even though she was sitting down. She’s never gone on record to say her feet hurt but I know women, and I can bet she took your shoes off because her feet needed a reprieve.
In your defense, it’s true that beautiful women with their long legs and alluring walks seem like goddesses. But we are human. And working women (like myself who traipse from meeting to meeting in the city all day) are superhuman.
We need gorgeous high-heeled shoes that don’t cause us immense and unfathomable pain. Many of your heels aren’t terribly agonizing but for the styles like the Very Mix Spiked Heels that are, I beg you to embrace comfort and couture on this, your 20th anniversary.
Though your shoes mean everything to me, some styles have proven to be hurtful and even dangerous. And that’s neither a “comfortable relationship,” nor “love,” as you told The New Yorker. That’s physical abuse.

I own a pair and i do NOT wear them as much as I would love to. I honestly believe that I was the only one that felt the pain as well. I thought it was due to me not wearing heels as much but it's now much more relieving to know that there are others who endured the discomfort as well.
I had no idea those Loubs were taking people out like that! Nor did I know the pain was more than usual lol Still saving up for a pair but thnx for the heads up!
