GLAM SCOOP: Jourdan Dunn Complains About Kanye West #PFW Fitting, Drew Barrymore for Marni x H&M, Target’s Offensive Whitney Houston Cards
Happy, happy Monday, Glamazons! I had the most fabulous weekend hitting Miami Beach for a quick getaway. In my mind, I totally earned it after February with all the Black History Month, Awards Show, Fashion Week coverage I did for various sites (I was pooped!). It was so much fun partying at Clevelander and Cameo (where I saw Nas perform! #totalNasstan) and posing at the beach. Yay for my Fashion Week diet, lol and serious!
I hope your weekends were just as fabulous! While I was enjoying that rare downtime, the fashion world was working! Jourdan Dunn took to her Twitter to gripe about Kanye’s Paris Fashion Week fitting, Marni for H&M had a fahbulous fete with a whole bunch of A-List actresses and much more. Let’s get to the scoop!
Jourdan Dunn Complains About Kanye West Paris Fashion Week Fitting
Oh, Kanye West. The rapper/designer is deep in prep mode for his second womenswear showing at Paris Fashion Week (scheduled to take place tomorrow) and already, models are not happy following his fitting. Jourdan Dunn tweeted that his Fall 2012 shoes, though cute, were painful:
Guys, if a model is saying those shoes hurt, they REALLY hurt. According to model Leomie Anderson, who Jourdan RT’d, another model felt the same way about the shoes and was getting cursed out by ‘Ye:
Yikes. I hope he isn’t being a divo but hey, every other fashion designer does it so we can’t be too surprised. AND though Monsieur Louboutin seems to think shoes should be painful, I strongly recommend Kanye make shoes that women can walk in. Especially if he’s going to charge $5,000 for them. [iluluonline]
Drew Barrymore Models Marni x H&M at L.A. Fete and We’ve Got Video!
I’m squealing right now, guys. Why, you ask? Because I snagged an invite to the Marni for H&M pre-shopping event and it goes without saying my entire freelance check will be rung right up at the register. (Have you SEEN those pieces?!). The countdown to Marni x H&M launch (it goes down Thursday, March 6th!) is happening as we speak and to celebrate, the designers threw a fahbulous L.A. fete. But this wasn’t just any launch party. H&M tapped Drew Barrymore, my style crush Freida Pinto, Winona Ryder, Sofia Coppola and more to actually model the clothes. HOW. COOL. Check out the video here:
Yea, I’ma need all those pieces in my wardrobe. Can’t wait! [Fashionista]
Naomi Campbell Slays Another Photoshoot
Why is Naomi Campbell everything? The supermodel was bored I guess so she just went and slayed another photoshoot, this time for Pinko‘s Spring 2012 campaign. At this point, she’s so gorgeous she’s beyond human. Like, let’s give Naomi her own species. Check out the video below:
If Naomi loves Pinko, so do we. [Beauty Is Diverse]
Get into Rory Beca for Forever 21!
Rory Beca‘s dresses were always adorbs but also always out of my price range so I passed them by. Now, that the designer is doing a collection with Forever 21, starting at approx $20, well let’s just say my summer will be FULL of her pieces. The line features a ton of vibrant printed dresses and rompers and is available now. What do you think of Rory Beca for Forever 21, Glamazons? [SheFinds]
Target Pulls Offensive Whitney Houston Cards; Oprah To Interview Daughter Bobbi Kristina
Sigh. I still haven’t even processed the fact that my beloved Whitney Houston is gone and people are already dis-honoring her legacy. Target released cards slamming her relationship with Bobby Brown (originally printed before her passing). Are they serious? Luckily, someone working there with a brain (and conscience…and heart…) yanked them out of stores. But they totes shouldn’t have been printed in the first place. Double Sigh.
News also hit over the weekend that Whitney’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, who just turned 19 on March 4th, will give an interview to Oprah on OWN next Sunday, March 11 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Bobbi Kristina will be joined by other members of the Houston family and I’m going to need all the Kleenex in the world to get through it. So sad to lose an icon, but for a daughter to lose her Mom…heartbreaking. Prayers for Bobbi and fam. [BET/CNN]
Until tomorrow, lovelies.
