Color me surprised! Several items from the Altuzarra for Target collection are still available, and I’m in shock. It went on sale Sunday morning on Target and Net-a-Porter and while Net-a-Porter sold out (save for a few pieces), Target still has the collection available for a “limited time only.” Usually, the retailer’s high-end designer collaborations attract ravenous crowds, and stores are left with empty racks. Three years ago, the Missoni collection even crashed Target‘s website!

That wasn’t the case with Altuzarra as a sizable amount of pieces are still up for grabs on Target.com. Net-a-Porter‘s success could be perhaps because they had a smaller inventory, they sold the pieces internationally (Target only carried the collection in U.S. and Canada) and their customers are probably more familiar with Altuzarra‘s work.

On Target, shoppers may not have been as well-versed with Altuzarra. And while we praised the collection for not having a signature piece that everyone could spot from a mile away (like Phillip Lim‘s ‘Boom’ sweatshirt, for example), that may have deterred shoppers from picking up Altuzarra‘s more timeless pieces. And lest we forget, there was a boycott.

Or it could be that shoppers are just over designer collaborations in general (though we doubt it). Whatever the reasoning behind it, the collection is still available and I predict it will go on sale in the coming weeks. Target slashed prices for several Peter Pilotto for Target items less than a month after the collection hit stores; this line will be no different.
