It may sound kind of cliché to say this, but beauty really can be seen and used everywhere! Just think about a time when you had to be resourceful and all you had was a tube of lipstick and some string. OK, so I’m being a little dramatic, but what I’m getting at is that sometimes your go-to tools can be used for more than gorgeous hair, nails and makeup. Check out these non-conventional uses for everyday beauty items.
Signed, Sealed, Delivered
I’ve never been big on the whole licking envelopes-to-seal-them aspect of sending letters; even after they gave the area that you lick a weird sweet taste. Luckily I keep a cleat top coat of nail polish handy (just in case I need to chip-proof my color) and this is the perfect alternative to seal a letter. Just dip, swipe and drop it in the mail!
A Breath of Fresh Air
Your beauty swag goes overboard when you smell as good as you look. My vanity looks like the shelf of a fragrance counter because it’s covered in body mist and perfume. When I’m out of air freshener or just want my room to smell like my peach-scented body mist by mark., I just reach for the bottle and use it as a room spray. Sometimes I’ spray it in front of my fan and let the scent travel through the room.
Don’t Trip
Hairspray doesn’t just hold your hair in place, it can also keep you from taking an unsightly tumble in your 6-inch heels. One thing that can be annoying about some heels is if they have a slippery , but now, tripping will be the least of your worries. Just spray a little bit of hair spray on the soles of your shoes, let dry and show off your hot strut.
No More Paper Cuts
A finger nail file is like a walking magic wand. I get plain old thrifty with them and do things like use them to tighten tiny screws (like those in my glasses), but my favorite use is in the office. They are my glammy way of opening letters. Their flat, triangular shape fits perfectly under the seal and if you don’t go crazy with it, you’ll get a pretty smooth finish which will help you avoid paper cuts. (Because sliced up fingers just don’t mix with a cute mani. #justsayin)
Pin It To Win It
If you find yourself in a frenzy because you’re out of paper clips and staples, you could just reach into your bun and use a bobby pin to get the job done. Now, Glamazons, you know this is thrifty, but if you don’t work in an environment where this would be considered kosher, just ask you neighbor to borrow their stapler! If it’s your own personal papers, then it’s all good!
Glamazons, what are some of your out-of-the box uses for beauty items? Have you tried any of the tips above?
Ciao Bellas,
