A Day in The Life: Haute Strut Speed Networking Event – I Won The Hautest Heels Contest!

Glamazons, on the evening of July 26, 2011, a group of fabulous women came out to celebrate the Haute Strut Speed Networking Event we wrote about earlier this week. Fellow Glamazons Krystal, Channing and of course lil ole’ me came out to network and show off our haute shoes! There’s me above with hosts Renae Bluitt of In Her Shoes Blog and T. Bernie of COCOACHiC.

After a long day of work, it was great having the opportunity to relax and mingle with wonderful women who have made successful careers in the areas of media, fashion, journalism, entrepreneurship and more!

Held at the swank La Vie Lounge located in Soho, the event started off smoothly with the DJ playing a couple of  90’s R&B’s hits, a few recent songs and ending off the night with  the tune of the moment: “Otis” from Kanye & Jay Z’s “Watch The Throne” album due out in August.

During the speed networking event, I had the chance to meet four women who are truly working their way to the top with successful businesses. These FLY female entrepreneurs included Tricia Lee, owner of the Polish Bar in Brooklyn; Lorraine Natasha West, owner of Tasha West Jewelry Line;  Dorian Grace, owner of DLux New Jersey – a haute designer boutique and Shakara Bridgers, Owner of Cupcake Suite & Get ‘em Girl, Inc (her red velvet cupcakes are to die for!).

In the four minutes time I spent with each woman, I definitely learned great business gems like using social media to my advantage by networking and marketing myself, making a plan and sticking to it, tips for developing a successful business and how to craft your business and marketing to fit your customers needs and make them happy.

Needless to say, I enjoyed talking with all of them especially considering the fact that they all worked in two of my favorite areas in life: fashion and food!

While we mingled, COCOACHiC’s very own T. Bernie (above) was walking around handing out cards with numbers to the ladies who had on the Hautest Heels for a chance to win a pair of heels by one of my favorite fashion designers, Tracy Reese (Still in love with that gorgeous black lace Tracy Reese gown spotted on Tika Sumpter!).

Well, guess what, Glamazons? I was one of the lucky ladies who got chosen to compete in the finalists’ round for Hautest Heels. How Glam is that!?

Truthfully, I had butterflies in my stomach as I walked the room and got onstage with the other ladies chosen as the crowd voted for the lady who had on the hautest pair of heels!

These are the shoes, that glisten in the dark, which were designed by Fever Shoes that I wore (plus my L.A.M.B clutch):

The Hautest Heels Contest ended up being a tie between me and another lovely lady who had on a pair of cute lavender mesh Christian Louboutins pumps (below – I’m the one on the right!). They had a tie breaker since there could only be one winner.

With a round of applause, the crowd made the final decision which turned out to be me! Can you believe it? I was so excited – I still am actually! ::screams::

Being that I’m such a shoenista, I’m delighted that I was crowned the winner and even more amazed that in addition to winning the contest and a pair of Tracy Reese shoes, I also won a raffle where the prize was yet another pair of shoes by Gwyneth Shoes! How fab is that?

Suffice it to say, if you didn’t make it out, you missed out on a spectacular event! Be sure to be there next time with your best shoes and a lot of glamatude. ;)

All in all, it was a fabulous night and I can’t wait until the next one.
