Please pinch me. When I was impatiently counting down the days to Scandal‘s Season 4, I never would’ve imagined that three days away from the premiere, I’d be talking to the star of the show: Kerry Washington! Like, what?!
Tonight, I headed to downtown NYC for the launch party for the Scandal x The Limited collection.
Not only did I get to see the line up close, I had the privilege of talking to Limited head of design Elliot Staples, brilliant Scandal costume designer Lyn Paolo and Kerry Washington about the line! I can’t even.
Not bad for a Monday!

Kerry Washington On Her Favorite Pieces From The Line:
“I love the outerwear. I’m obsessed with the cape. Capes are very on trend now and the plaid is all over for Fall. And the cape is worth the investment because it’s seasonless. It’s a transitional piece. You can layer it. You can wear it open, you can wear it closed. It’s one of my favorites.”
Lyn Paolo On Her Use of Color To Convey Emotion on Scandal:
“Pink is when Olivia’s with Fitz. That’s usually an indication that there’s a romantic moment coming out. For Mellie, green is when she’s feeling a little envious, blue when she’s sad, red when she’s fiery. We play with color on all the characters. It’s a little more subliminal on the other characters. You should watch the Mens shirts and ties this season.”
Elliot Staples On His Love for Olivia Pope:
“Olivia Pope is such a fantastic character because she’s so confident, strong and powerful yet at the same token she’s feminine, sexy and vulnerable. When she walks in a room, she owns a room. We hope this collection is a toolkit to own the room.”
