I don’t how to feel about the news that “Scandal” is coming back for Season 4. Of course, I can’t wait for my faves Olivia Pope, Cyrus Beene and Mellie Grant to return to the TV screen. On the other hand, I don’t want to wait until September 25th. UGH!
And can I be honest here? Season 3 was my least favorite season. The show stopped being about the fascinating cases each episode (that golden “Law and Order” formula!) and kept dwelling on Liv‘s tortured love affair with Fitz which was stale before his second term (hence why everyone is Team #JakeBae).
Furthermore, every episode felt like an attempt to out-shock the episode before it, a game that culminated in Fitz‘s son’s death and the senseless shooting of Harrison.
And about Harrison! I understand why Shonda Rhimes had to do it but I am heartbroken that Brolivia Pope won’t join us in the new season. Fortunately, Shonda‘s new interview with The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the plot will revert back to focusing on Olivia and her cases (Shonda also sadly reaffirmed that Harrison is, in fact, dead. *pours out liquor*).
BUT…the plot isn’t the only thing that changed last season. We weren’t too fond of Olivia‘s blanket coats and roomy dresses in Season 3 though they served an important purpose: to shield Kerry Washington‘s real life baby bump as she prepared to welcome a beautiful little girl into the world.
But now that Kerry‘s back to her pre-baby weight (THAT. FAST), here’s what we’re excited to see in her Season 4 wardrobe:
1. A white coat
If things are returning to their essence as Shonda teased, we need to see Olivia back in a white coat. And it can’t be her usual trenches, though there’s nothing wrong with those. We need the kind of white coat that makes our jaws drop as she sashays back into the OPA offices to reclaim her rightful throne. The only thing missing will be her halo.

2. A glorious gown
Remember the days when Liv would show up to a White House gala in a glorious gown and snatch people’s wigs clear out of their scalp from the roots leaving nary a follicle?
That’s what we need to properly usher in Season 4, and the Inauguration is the perfect setting.

3. A Swimsuit
No doubt Liv will be stressed when she finds out her Dad killed Harrison (who I still believe is related to her somehow) and to combat that stress she’ll need lots of wine to go back to her therapeutic hobby: swimming. Can’t she get the most regal one piece swimsuit to do it in?

4. A bold sheath dress
Liv was at her lowest when she got on the airplane: Fitz gave her the cold shoulder and she acted like Jake was there out of pity when he asked to fly away with her. She needs her sexy preserved, reinvigorated and restored, and nothing does that better than a bold sheath dress. Since it’s long and fitted, it’s the quintessential “unintentionally” sexy dress. And it will have the President and former head of B613 fighting over her again in no time.

5. Affordable (!!) Clothes From The Scandal Style x The Limited Collection
This marks the first season where Olivia will wear stuff that I can actually afford. Kerry Washington, wardrobe stylist Lyn Paolo and The Limited teamed up for a Scandal x The Limited collection inspired by Olivia‘s landmark style. The line of 42 pieces, which will range from $49 to $248, hits 250 Limited stores and online in late September, the same time “Scandal” comes back on air. Don’t judge me when I sit and watch the new Season 4 episodes wearing this coat.
