My Girl Crush on Emeli Sandé PLUS She Rides in The Lincoln MKZ to Essence Black Women in Music

Glamazons,

So many girl crushes, so little time. Okay, I have a new one — that’s not Lupita Nyong’o or Solange Knowles. I’m falling a bit more in love each day with Emeli Sandé.

I’m not sure if it’s her captivating, soulful sound (have you heard “Mountains”?!), her eclectic style or her sassy haircut, but I’m knee-deep in my feelings every time she graces my television or computer screen. Why is she so perfect? *swoon*

I think her fearless approach to style is what ultimately won me over. She’s bold and brave when it comes to prints (the more frenetic they are, the better) and she sets off her platinum blonde cut with heavy liner and a bold lip. Every outfit she wears on the red carpet is a moment; she commits from head-to-toe. I’m obviously here for it, and so is Essence Magazine.

They honored her at the 5th Annual Essence Black Women in Music event at 1 OAK Nightclub in Los Angeles. And being the Glamazon that she is, she arrived at the venue in the all-new 2014 Lincoln MKZ. NO coincidence we like the same cars.

Lincoln’s multicultural marketing manager, Shawn Thompson sang Emeli‘s praises, saying: “Emeli Sandé brings fresh, groundbreaking style as a performer and songwriter, which makes her a perfect match with the new perspective the Lincoln Motor Company is bringing to the luxury segment. Lincoln is pleased to be the presenting sponsor of the 2014 ESSENCE Black Women in Music event because it celebrates strong and creative women.”

She kept things simple and classic in a black and white printed dress, soft pink lip and her signature blonde cut. Love!

And my darling Kelis was there in a black hi-lo halter dress, a red shaggy fur and embellished pumps. She’s my other girl crush (told you there are a lot of them).

Who wore your fave look? Do you love Emeli Sandé too? Stay tuned for a glamspiration post on her soon (in the meantime, here are Lupita and Solange‘s).

Kisses,

Glamazon Jessica
