I’m sure you’re tired of hearing it by now but summer is my favorite time of year! Still, even I can admit that it has its drawbacks. Your skin gets extra sweaty, sand is a huge nuisance (if you go to the beach as often as I do) and let’s not even get into the horrors of sunburn. Fortunately, I have hacks for all these dilemmas and more. Read on.
-Summer Hack #1: DIY Leave-In Conditioner
I never swim without leave-in conditioner which acts as a protective layer to keep your hair from absorbing so much chlorine or salt water. But when I forget my leave-in, I just mix one part regular conditioner to three parts water in a spray bottle, and spritz before diving in.
-Summer Hack #2: Get Sand Off Easily
After a day at the beach, there’s sand literally everywhere. When I’m ready to leave, I sprinkle baby powder wherever sand got stuck. The powder absorbs the moisture on your skin that’s making sand stick to you in the first place so the sand wipes right off. It’s a godsend, really.
-Summer Hack #3: Thigh-Rubbing
Sometimes, my thighs rub together in the summertime (ugh!) so I apply deodorant to the insides of my thighs so they don’t chafe or rub. It actually works!
-Summer Hack #4: Sunburn
I got sunburn for the first time on the tip of my nose in Barbados, and I have to say it’s pretty horrible. To soothe my skin, I filled an ice cube tray with aloe vera gel, let the cubes freeze and then rubbed them on my nose. Instant relief!
