Lace is one of those materials that goes out of fashion just as quickly as it came in. After Dolce & Gabbana and Zac Posen sent it down the runway, lace reemerged on the fashion scene, and in my personal wardrobe.
I have enlisted someone pretty fancy to show us how to incorporate lace into our wardrobes. Behold Carine Roitfeld in lace.
See what I mean Glamazons? Carine shows us how it’s done!
Obviously her look is a bit much for regular day to day activities, considering her undies are showing in half these pictures, but there are key points we can take away from this.
Pair lace with something completely unsexy.
Am I the only one who thinks the long cape is borderline witch? The cape balances all the sexy and sheerness of the lace out. You don’t have to throw on a long cape though, menswear-inspired pieces will work perfectly.
Don’t be afraid to go bold.
Carine surely didn’t hold anything back just because she was in lace. She made sure that her lace wasn’t all that innocent and sweet but going bold. She skipped her pants, paired lace-up boots and wore dramatic capes for effect. Us Glamazons? We can just try lace in a bold punchy color.
Less is more.
Carine’s last outfit, she paired her lace top with a pencil skirt. If you wanted to wear this look to the office or to Starbucks a fitted blazer would make that outfit daytime friendly. You don’t want to get mistaken for a, er, lady of the night baring all under lace garments. If you’re going to wear black lace, tone down the sexiness for daytime.
Are we ready to rock out in our lace the modified Carine Roitfeld way? Good! Here are some lace pieces for you to get the look:
What do you think Glamazons?

Glamazon Channing
