Glamazons,
Laquan Smith is one of the designers I look forward to seeing because his youthfulness and edge is a breath of fresh air on the fashion circuit. This year, it’s like he read my mind, delivering a collection that brought his modern edge to “classic tailoring” and traditional utilitarian fabrics, as he told WWD. What materialized is tweed high-waisted shorts and denim peplum skirts.
And guests including Christina Milian enjoyed Black Diamond Margaritas by Maestro Dobel Tequila. We had the chance to go backstage with SheaMoisture to get the scoop on the hair look which was also a classic style with a fresh twist: the modern ’60s beehive. Get deets on the look below!
Get the Hair Look:
1. Start by working in SheaMoisture Professional Smooth 2. Finish Thermal Protection to fight frizz and nourish hair prior to styling.
3. With a large round brush, separate hair into medium-size sections and blow dry using SheaMoisture Professional Smooth Finish Blow Dry Cream.
4. Separate hair into two sections; from the upper crown up to the bottom half down. With the upper section of hair, set aside a few wispy pieces, then braid the rest of the hair completely before twisting into a bun. Pin the bun at the base of the crown using large bobby pins.
5. For the bottom half of the hair, spritz a bit of SheaMoisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Texture Spray then brush through. Lift this section of hair to cover the bun at the base then twist inward, creating lift and a bouffant-like shape.
6. Secure with bobby pins.
7. Finish by spraying SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Hold & Shine Moisture Mist for hold and hydration.
Get The Makeup Look:
1. Prime the face using SheaMoisture Cosmetics Primer for smooth, long-lasting makeup application.
2. Using the appropriate skin tone match, apply and blend SheaMoisture Cosmetics Sheer Liquid Foundation. Then, use SheaMoisture Cosmetics Color Correcting, Contouring and Highlighting Palette to contour the cheekbones, hairline and jawbone. Set with a corresponding shade of SheaMoisture Cosmetics Pressed Powder for a matte finish.
3. For blush, mix SheaMoisture Cosmetics Mineral Blush in Annecy Maroon and Casablanca Copper to create a natural flush on the cheeks.
4. Then use SheaMoisture Cosmetics Brow Kit to fill in and define brows.
5. Line eyes into a winged out shape using SheaMoisture Cosmetics Liquid Eyeliner in Black.
6. Then, apply SheaMoisture Cosmetics Wet/Dry Eyeshadow in Cecilia above the link of black liner to create a shimmery gold accent. Finish eyes with a strip of false lashes and SheaMoisture Cosmetics Lengthening Mascara on the bottom lashes.
7. Apply SheaMoisture Cosmetics Pressed Powder in Waimea Bay Porcelain to add a bit of luminance and glow to the high points of the face, like the cheekbones and underneath the brow bone.
8. Finally, use a concealer one shade lighter than your skin tone from SheaMoisture Cosmetics Color Correcting, Contouring and Highlighting Palette and lightly apply to lips before mattifying with a powder on top.
Gorgeous!
