Glamazons,
I love J.Crew just like the next girl (here’s proof) but I can’t be the only one that noticed their prices skyrocket after FLOTUS Michelle Obama wore their pieces:

Malia and Sasha Obama wearing J.Crew at the Inauguration
And thanks to Jenna Lyons‘ glamazing style, they suddenly became en vogue among in fashion crowds. That meant extravagant fashion week presentations (attended by the likes of Beyonce and Solange) and higher price points:

Street style star and Wonderland Magazine editor Julia Sarr-Jamois starred in a J.Crew ad
I’m one of many loyal customers who felt the new prices and styles didn’t reflect their core values and long-standing tradition of practical, accessible clothing. And as it turns out, CEO Mickey Drexler agrees, noting the brand has “strayed too far from the classics” and promising that “for spring, you’ll see our prices much more friendly this year.”
He spoke at Manhattan’s New School’s University Center on Tuesday and in a very candid conversation, admitted: “We can’t compete with designers. Our Madison Avenue and 66th Street Collection store does an enormous amount of business.”
Though they’ll embrace the affordable basics the brand was built on come Spring, Drexler revealed they’ll continue to produce luxury pieces in J. Crew Collection items that run upwards of $1,000. I’m here for the lines being separate.
What do you think, Glamazons? Do you still shop at J.Crew? Have you noticed a shift in recent collections? Do you think they should go back to the basics?
While we all wait breathlessly for the shift, here are some of my fave pieces from J. Crew and J. Crew Collection:
