Catskills In The New Ford Bronco

Oh my Glamazons! How are you holding up in quarantine? It’s like the world was turned upside down when the coronavirus pandemic hit. Between the doom scrolling, the news updates, the stay-at-home orders, and all the death and grief and sickness, it’s like a dark cloud has been over our heads lately, right? Well I took a trip to the Catskills — a safe, socially-distanced, road trip — and it was just what I needed to feel like myself again. A couple of friends and I borrowed the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport Badlands to drive to upstate New York and basically quarantine in a cabin for the week.

Naturally, we picked a time when there was a huge snowstorm (blank stare) but if anyone knows how to deal with snow, it’s upstate New Yorkers. It was actually really beautiful how we cozied up to the fireplace, drank mulled wine, roasted marshmallows, went in the sauna, the whole nine. I didn’t ski like last time, but I do now realize that I actually love cold weather trips. Who knew?!

2021 Ford Bronco Sport Badlands Review

I was pretty nervous about traveling during a snowstorm but the Bronco made for some super safe driving. It’s very capable off-road, with an all-wheel drive system and a powerful engine (245-hp turbo-four, to be exact) that got us there and back without a worry.

We also loved the car Wifi, the SiriusXM satellite radio station (my favorite station is The Groove!), and the voice control. And the car had a spacious trunk to house all our luggage, haha.

But the funniest / strangest thing was that guys kept coming up to us like “is that the new Bronco?” Seriously, we were asked that several times, and someone went so far as to inquire if we ordered it in advance. People are really into this car, the way I am about shoes LOL.

Traveling In The Covid-19 Pandemic

Now about Covid-19 restrictions, everywhere we went, we were super safe, wearing a mask, socially distancing, and sanitizing frequently. We used contactless delivery for food when available, and mostly just stayed to ourselves. We had little interaction with the staff, and I prefer hotels that offer 24 hours in between stays to air out the room (you can confirm beforehand) just to be safe. We also took a Covid-19 test before and after our trip.

Overall, I was really grateful for the chance to see my friends safely, have a change in scenery, and make some new memories during a really challenging time.

If I do travel again over the summer, when (prayerfully) the numbers go back down, it will be a road trip. Have you traveled anywhere since the pandemic? And what do you think of the new Bronco?
