African Pride “Beauty and The Beat Suite” with Kelly Price PLUS Giveaway! #NolaCrawl

Glamazons,

It’s hard to say where I had the most fun during our #NolaCrawl at Essence Music Festival. From the African Pride “Beauty and The Beat Suite,” to the Beyonce concert on the mainstage to a gospel brunch with Kirk Franklin, I had the time of my life. But I have to give kudos to the African Pride “Beauty and The Beat Suite,” because as the first star-studded, action-packed stop on our #NolaCrawl, their event set the tone for a weekend of nonstop fun.

As soon as we walked into the Wyndham Riverfront, the #NolaCrawl group (Lexi with the Curls, Love Brown Sugar, Style and Beauty Doctor and I) were greeted by some of our favorite bloggers like Ty of Gorgeous in Grey, Danielle of Hello Beautiful and Carmen of Lipstick Fashion Mascara who had already arrived at the venue. It was like a reunion!

We all rushed inside to see Kelly Price take the stage and discuss her upcoming projects. I’ve always thought Kelly Price had the most incredible voice (remember when she blew the roof off of “Black Girls Rock” with her performance of “Four Women”?). And she looked gorgeous in a short cut with a swoop bang! And I just loved her draped red sweater and black pants – they showed off her curvy frame beautifully.

Kelly gave a candid interview about her style, revealing that if she didn’t have industry pressure and could wear whatever look she wanted, she’d choose Halle Berry‘s cut. Can you imagine how glamazing she’d look with it?

She also announced a new reality show she’s producing called “Too Fat For Fame,” which celebrates confident, curvy women while taking an honest look at the difficulty some have getting ahead in the industry.

I have so much respect for Kelly, and appreciate her honesty about her experience as a curvy woman in the recording industry. It was amazing to meet her and tell her that face-to-face!

After chopping it up with Kelly Price, we checked out the African Pride products on display like the African Pride Olive Miracle growth oil, moisturizing lotion, leave-in conditioner and silky smooth edges. I live for silky smooth edges when I wear my hair in a top knot.

Attendees were lucky enough to get makeovers on the spot:

And models posed in the center of the venue with hairstyles that reflect trends from the ’80s, ’90s and 2000s:

Love that two-tone cut (very Pepa of Salt-n-Pepa, right?).

Speaking of Salt-n-PepaSpinderella was on the 1s and 2s. And she had everyone on their feet!

We all got up when she played “The Wobble” and danced for our lives. In fact, Danielle taped this hilarious video of Christina and I dancing up a storm. See it here and check out a picture below.

After snagging some African Pride Silky Smooth Edges for the road, we ran into Momma Dee of “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” on our way out (pictured bottom left) and literally went crazy. She has the best quotes on the show (“in that order”) so it was awesome to meet her.

Overall, it was the perfect start to our #NolaCrawl and an incredible weekend at Essence Music Festival.

And I have great news: I brought the party home with me. I’m giving away 5 full sets of African Pride products (1 set for each winner)!
