Wednesday was shaping up to be a pretty crappy one (boy drama…oh, and work stress, of course ugh) so it made my day to know that I was going to be attending the 2011 Victoria’s Secret Show! Woo hoo!! I’ve been to every show for the past three years and one thing I can say is that it just keeps on getting better. After hanging out backstage with the models, hairdressers and makeup artists you can’t help but to be in a good mood. There’s makeup, hair extensions, cute satin pink robes, great smelling fragrance, and super fun VS Angels everywhere.
After hanging out backstage, I snuck back upstairs and into the rafters so that I could get a sneak peek at the show before the actual show. Nicki Minaj was performing so I tried to zoom in on my camera phone and take a pic. Right after I snapped the photo, some guy stopped the rehearsal by getting on the loudspeaker and saying that anyone caught taking pics during rehearsal would be thrown out. I don’t think he noticed me (ooops!) so I just took that as my cue to leave hahaha.
My fave part of the show is always the showing of the Million Dollar Bra. This year, it was called the Fantasy Treasure Bra and was flaunted by VS Angel Miranda Kerr. It costs approximately $2,500,000. Designed by London Jewelers, the bra features 3,400 gems including 142 carats of diamonds in addition to pearls, citrines and aquamarines. Yes, Glamazons. All of this on a push-up bra. While I’m usually not impressed by much (I mean, can’t you just take a bedazzler and create your own Million Dollar Bra look alike?!) this is one that I couldn’t help but to “ooo” and “aaaah” over while looking at it backstage.
Over in makeup, I ran into the amazing Tom Pecheaux who gave me the lowdown on the beauty look he was currently creating on the face of Miranda Kerr. (Who, btw, made me want to throw up my lunch after looking at here. I mean, didn’t she just have a child?! No fat on her body anywhere. CRAZY.) Tom basically said that this year, they wanted to make the girls look alot more natural so they did away with the spray tans. Gasp! (Side note: I remember attending the show in Miami and receiving my very first spray tan while there. It contained sparkles in it and everything. I instantly became obsessed with how dark and glowy my skin was. That’s me pictured below at the 2008 show in Miami along with Allure magazine’s Heather Muir and Fitness magazine’s April Franzino.)
Performers at the show (besides Nicki Minaj) included Maroon 5, Kanye West and YES Jay-Z.
I almost DIED when he came out. I was so jealous that Glamazon Jessica got to attend the Watch The Throne concert at MSG, so this was almost just as good! You can catch the 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Tuesday, November 29 at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.
