Get Ready with Me: #BlackGirlsRock with Beautiful Textures! [Video] @LovinMyTextures

Glamazons,

One of my favorite parts about going out is getting ready. I play my favorite songs, invite my girlfriends over and we have a blast styling each other’s hair, doing makeup and getting dressed before we head out anywhere. When Beautiful Textures invited Style Influencers Group to attend the 2015 taping (Lexi was hosting another Beautiful Textures event so she couldn’t join us this time but Cadence actually filled in for her…for the prep part only! LOL!), I knew we’d end up throwing our own “Get Ready with Me” party like we did at Essence Fest and even New York Fashion Week.

What do these “Get Ready with Me” parties consist of? Obviously, lots of laughing and dancing but also hair, makeup and fashion prep.

For Black Girls Rock this year, I borrowed a dress by Issa London via Rent The Runway (I loved the green and gold color to bring out my recent dye job!) and I used some of my favorite makeup products including Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation and MAC bronzer for a natural, radiant look.

My hair was the main event this year because I’m finally wearing it out more often (no more protective styles…for now) and I love it! As you know, I recently dyed it and I just love the new caramel blonde/reddish hue. Black Girls Rock was the first time I wore it on in public so I wanted it to look amazing!

I did a Bantu knot out with Beautiful Textures products using the L.O.C. method: Beautiful Textures moisture butter for my leave-in, Beautiful Textures Shine & Silken Growth oil for my oil and Beautiful Textures Curl Definer Custard for my cream styler. I loved the results – pretty, defined curls and it lasted for 5 days! Woot! Also, literally everyone kept telling me my hair smelled good, and honestly, I couldn’t resist smelling it myself. But I really love the products for their ingredients: the moisture butter has coconut oil, shea butter and argan oil in it which are all super nourishing (a must especially when your hair has color in it!). I’m happy to say my curls were still on fleek for my second Michelle Obama meeting at the Black Girls Rock show (here was the first)!

Check out all the fun we had getting ready with Beautiful Textures:

And head over to Clutch for my recap of 5 highlights from the Black Girls Rock show and tune into the show tonight at 7P/6C on BET. Thanks so much to Beautiful Textures for sending me!
