GLAM SCOOP: Solange Knowles vs. ‘Natural Hair Police,’ Muhammad Ali for Louis Vuitton, Air Yeezy 2 Sneakers Selling for 90K on eBay
Happy Friday, Glamazons! Whew! So much has been going on in the fashion and beauty world the past couple days so let’s get right to it!
-Solange Knowles tweets her disdain for the Natural Hair police after reading this brilliant post. The natural hair police have apparently been criticizing everything from Solange‘s curl type (“not like other 4C’s”) to her styling (“needs a twistout”) via Instagram and on blogs like Curly Nikki. See Solo‘s rant below:
I am so disparaged by this. Shouldn’t the natural hair community be a place that unifies and encourages women? It goes to show that changing your hair will do little if your mentality is still divisive and judgmental. Shame. – Solange Knowles’ Twitter
-Believe it or not, someone keeps giving the Kardashians license [ahem, Boldface Licensing & Branding] to make new products. Their latest venture is a makeup line called ‘Khroma Beauty‘ which launches in December at Ulta. From the mouths of the Kardashians themselves: “We’re so excited to partner with Boldface Licensing+Branding on this new venture. There’s a glam girl in all of us and it’s a dream come true to have our own makeup line and to share it with women around the world.”
Well, one thing you can’t deny is that Kim Kardashian stays with a beat face. – E Online
- LOL! You simply have to check out this glamazing article on the 27 ways Sex and The City would be different if it came out today. #1: Carrie would be a blogger. Natch. - Buzz Feed
-Awww look at Laila Ali’s son C.J.! Curtis Muhammad Conway, Jr. and his legendary grandfather Muhammad Ali star in one of the most brilliant ads I’ve ever seen…for Louis Vuitton shot by Annie Leibovitz. Just beautiful. – Beauty Is Diverse
-My favorite fresh-faced fashionista Selena Gomez looks fabtastic for Elle Magazine‘s July 2012 issue.
She’s always posing in the sand (right?! or is it just me?) but I dig it. Check out behind-the-scenes video here:
Oh and cutest quote about Justin Bieber:
On Bieber renting out LA’s Staples Center for a private screening of Titanic: “If I’ll share anything with you, it’s that he really is a hopeless romantic. I had just mentioned it in the car – all I said is that I really want to see Titanic again, and then…”
Aww! – Elle
-Naomi Campbell will close the Olympics this year storming the catwalk with Kate Moss in fashions by Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood. They should totally get medals for that, right?
Also, check out her full spread for Antidote Magazine photographed by Jane Welters, directed by Yann Weber, hair by Daniel Dyer, makeup by Alex Babsky.

-Say what you want about his ready-to-wear designs but Kanye West‘s shoes are a hit. His Yeezy 2 Nike Sneakers are currently selling on eBay for $90,000 not to mention the many people planning to camp outside overnight for the day the sneaks hit stores, June 9th. Take that, Anna Wintour. – ABC News
-I’m convinced every “Oprah‘s Next Chapter” interview was designed solely to make me cry. First, Whitney Houston‘s only child Bobbi Kristina broke my heart in pieces with her interview and Michael Jackson‘s (GORG) daughter Paris Jackson is up next.
Paris says Michael was a “normal Dad” and she now understands why he made them wear masks. He wanted them to be unrecognizable when they went out without him – so they could enjoy their childhood and do things like go to Chuck E. Cheese unbothered by the paparazzi. This is SO making me want to join the “keep Blue Ivy in a blanket” campaign. See the video below:

So sweet! The interview airs Sunday 9 PM EST. – The YBF
Have a fab weekend!

[...] • Solange Knowles has cut her hair three times in the past, but it seems her most recent big chop three years ago has garnered the most public reaction. The DJ took to twitter to vent her frustrations on the natural hair community policing her tresses, after reading this post in which the writer quotes internet commenters who say Solo’s type 4c hair “doesn’t look like” theirs, and that Ms. Knowles is in need of a twist out. She wrote, “I never painted myself as a team natural vice president. I don’t know the lingo and don’t sleep with a satin cap… However, I did [notice] when I picked out my hair, I kept seeing feedback about needing a “twist out”. Connnnfesssioonnn: I HATE twist outs. Correction, I hate the way they look on me SO I end up always picking them/ steaming them out. Look, all I’m saying is. My hair is not very important to me….so [i] don’t encourage it to be important to you.” Right on, Solo! People need to stay out of her tresses and worry about theirs! Her natural hair is bringing in them Carol’s Daughter coins, so clearly, her curl pattern and lack of a twist out is just fine! (Glamazons via @SolangeKnowles) [...]
