6 Spring Beauty Trends To Try Now!
Spring is absolutely one of my favorite times of the year! From the warm weather to the vividly-colored flowers, it just warrants beauty looks that are bold yet feminine.
From barely-there makeup looks to flirty buns, and fashion forward nail hues and designs– this is the time to maximize your beauty stock! Here’s a rundown of beauty trends from the runway that will keep you looking sizzling haute for the Spring 2012 season .
Orange is the new red – at least as a popping lip color! Tangerine lips popped up on the runways of Erin Fetherston, Chris Benz, Jason Wu and more for Spring glam inspiration! Let’s not forget about the burst of hot pink that we saw at Betsey Johnson and the pastel purple we spotted at the Faster by Mark Fast show.
While we usually see bold eyes as a Fall/Winter fashion appliqué, this bold and beautiful trend is staying in tow for Spring. Whether it’s smudged (like we saw at Gucci and Alexander Wang) or intricately drawn into a wing shape (for a cat-eyed look like the models at the L.A.M.B. show rocked), good eyeliner will keep you on the hot end of the beauty barometer.
This next trend is one that I envy girls for being able to pull off without the assistance of a brow pen or powder (like I have to do). Full brows were in full tow at the shows of Proenza Schouler, L.A.M.B., and Altuzarra, and Alice+ Olivia. Although, Altuzarra was a little too over-the-top-dot-com for my taste, I totally think the bold black brows worked with the aesthetic of the show and gave an in-your-face portrayal of the trend.
While there were a few colorful nail designs that hit the runways, the biggest nail trend was absolutely neutral nails. On the runways of Costello Tagliapietra, Lela Rose and VPL, pretty pinks, pastels, mute browns and shades of gray overshadowed the long, neon designed nails that have been all the rage for months past. Spring nails will take a more laidback approach as short, rounded nudes and neutral shades take the lead.
The African Safaris and look of the sun-kissed, gleaming skin of a desert beauty was a leading look at this year’s shows. Michael Kors, Vera Wang, and BCBG Max Azria all took to the warming rays of mother nature as inspiration for skin illuminating makeup looks. Bronzer and highlighter are the go-to tools to create the look of your own gorgeous glow.
Pretty ponies and cascading curls will never go out of style, but fab buns are also timeless beauty staples. Always a fan of gorgeous buns and ponies, I was elated to see the awesome 60’s-inspired mod buns adorned with vibrant headbands and pretty flowers at the Alice + Olivia show. I also loved the sleek buns with a side part at the Rachel Roy show.
