Glamazons, new year, new you, right? The dawn of 2012 is the perfect time to work on becoming a better Glamazon with fashion and beauty resolutions!
While we pride ourselves on being connoisseurs of all things style, there’s a thing or two even a Glamazon can improve on. With that in mind, I asked each of our writers to spill their Fashion and Beauty resolutions.
The result? We pledged to do everything from treat our feet better to dabble in blush and lipstick. Check them out!
Glamazon Jessica
FASHION: So Glamazons, you already know I have a crazy love affair with beautiful dresses (a la my printed Zac Posen for Target number), killer stilettos and standout handbags. My closet is overflowing with them! But in 2012, I vow to step away from the trends and buy more investment pieces. That means less shopping binges in H&M for the newest color blazer and more crashing sample sales (like the DVF one I hit before Christmas) for timeless finds I can wear from season to season. Say a prayer to the Fashion Gods for me, lol.
BEAUTY: Going natural was my New Year’s Beauty resolution in 2011 and I’m still so glad I did it! This year, I’m going to take the next step and experiment with more natural hairstyles: I’m talking color, braidouts, twist-outs, Bantu knot-outs and yes, even blowouts. Furthermore, I will stop being afraid of blush; it brightens up your face and makes you look alive. If Corrine Bailey Rae can wear it, so can I, right?
Glamazon Andrea
FASHION: I’m hopelessly head over in heels in love with the color black. While I do appreciate color, the only time I wear it is if it’s across my lips (i.e. lipstick) or on my eyes (i.e. eyeshadow). In 2012, I pledge to start rocking other shades of the rainbow! It will be scary, but I think I can do it. Maybe I’ll even throw out some of my black stuff?! (Alright, that’s a serious stretch. I’ll just take it one day at a time and see what happens!)
BEAUTY: It’s always hard for me to come up with beauty resolutions for the New Year simply because, well, I’ve done pretty much everything I’ve wanted to do! So, I think I’ll stick with the same one I made for 2011 (and failed miserably at haha) which is to wear more lipstick instead of my everyday lipgloss.
Glamazon Channing
FASHION: My New Year’s style resolution is all about taking fashion risks. This year, I will rock a turban (a la June Ambrose) and I will be confident in harem pants!
BEAUTY: I’ve committed the mother of hair crimes this year Glamazons by putting too much heat on my hair. 2012 will see significantly less heat (bye flat iron!) and more TLC for my strands. And another thing, I will be strong in growing out my relaxer. Yes, I am slowly saying Goodbye to the creamy crack. 12-step program, here I come!
Glamazon Margo
FASHION: I’m a total sucker for heels, and the higher the better! (My nickname at work is High Heels/H-Squared, so yeah…I wear them all the time). Well, my pretty little toes have really taken a beating from my obsession, so I’m going to wear more stylish flats in 2012. Ugly feet just don’t fly on these gorgeous Florida beaches!
BEAUTY: The lips really do tell all when it comes to beauty, whether they’re sheer and glossy or coated in a bright lipstick hue. I’m a lip gloss junkie and I’m not ashamed to admit it, but this year I’m going to step outside of my comfort zone and incorporate more colorful lipstick into my makeup looks. What better way to show just how confident you are than a popping touch of color on your pout?
Glamazon Krystal
FASHION: I will work on wearing brighter colors that will make me stand out wherever I go. I tend to wear blacks and grays, but this year I want to throw some attitude in my wardrobe and add a dash of color.
BEAUTY: Ugh, I must conquer not letting random eyebrow specialists make my brows too thin. I will make a resolution to stick to one person that creates the shape I like (obvsi full and structured is the way to go!) and not go around to any and everybody.
Glamazon Kamille
FASHION: Live a little! This year, I’ll incorporate more staple pieces into my wardrobe such as blazers and statement jewelry to give it a bit of spice.
Glamazons, what are your New Year’s fashion and beauty resolutions?
xoxo,
The Glamazons
