Glamazons,
If there is anyone who can make a case for bold athletic wear with a touch of edge, it’s Rihanna. Coming off the heels of her ever-popular Rihanna x Puma creepers (that sold out within hours), the singer presented her first collection as Creative Director of Puma, and it didn’t disappoint.
A balanced mix of sporty silhouettes and sex appeal, the line featured a black, white and gray color palette accented with prints, graphics and luxe faux fur. I definitely see a few pieces that are begging to make their way into my closet!
Gigi and Bella Hadid were among the models that walked the runway at 23 Wall Street in front of an audience that included Travis Scott, Chris Rock, Naomi Campbell and Anna Wintour.
Let’s get the scoop, shall we?
Here are the deets on Rihanna’s FentyxPuma Fall 2016 Collection:
Inspiration:
Wanting to design pieces that she would feel comfortable wearing, Rihanna was inspired by sports culture and street fashion. That direction surfaced in the collection’s boxing shorts and oversized sweatshirts. Of the monochromatic pieces, she said: “It’s a lot of room to be creative. It’s definitely not performance wear.” Rihanna also made it a point to keep the line unisex to reflect her everyday style. “Because I like to wear men’s clothes, I designed a little selfishly.”
To complement the collection’s edgy pieces, makeup artist Pat McGrath contrasted the models natural skin tone with ultra-matte lips and frosted eye gloss and mascara. Hairstylist Yusef Williams accented the beauty look with statement-making frosted white hair.
Key Pieces:
Black and white tracksuits, printed sheer tights, lace-up creepers, over-the-knee sneaker boots, zip-up jackets, bomber jackets with faux fur trim, printed backpacks, corsets, zip-up maxi dresses, boxing shorts, oversized robes, oversized sweatshirts, boxer briefs, parkas, cropped tops, velvet skirts, graphic hoodies, high-waisted trousers, lace-up jumpsuits, and velvet wraps.
Who We Could See Wearing The Collection:
Gwen Stefani, Rita Ora, Kylie Jenner, Cara Delevingne and, of course, Rihanna.
