::Drumroll, please:: Dior has finally announced their replacement for John Galliano and it’s none other than Raf Simons! The New York Times‘ Cathy Horyn was the first to break the news, which is scheduled to be formally announced by Dior today. Of the new position as Creative Director, the Belgian designer said: “The first time I heard about the Dior position, I thought, ‘This feels right.’” We totally agree! Here are three reasons why we can’t wait to see his first collection during the couture shows in July:
1. He’s a visionary.
Simons is singlehandedly responsibly for spearheading the bright hue trend, one that trickled down into mass retail and is now a fashion staple.
His understanding of the market and innovative designs will help him make history at Dior.
2. He will offer a fresh perspective.
During his former post at Jil Sander, Simons was lauded for his minimalist designs (which also became a trend and red-carpet fixture), which is a far cry from Dior‘s pension for adornment and opulence. He will undoubtedly pull in the reins a bit, from a design standpoint, taking the brand in a new, more modern direction.
3. He’s lowkey.
While John Galliano is an undisputed fashion genius, his loud-mouth and drinking binges brought along his demise. Simons, by contrast, is a lot more lowkey, making headlines for his designs as opposed to his personal life. This will ensure his tenure at Dior is refreshingly scandal-free.

We are super excited to see Raf Simons flourish at Dior; what do you think of him as a successor to John Galliano?
