Alongside his immense musical talent and ageless good looks, I love Pharrell for his sense of style. He’s as much as a fashion force as he is a musical genius! And his looks are always unique and innovative, whether we’re talking about his camo print suit and bow tie or his Vivienne Westwood oversized hat! The ever-inspiring “Happy” singer continues to innovate in fashion with his newest collection “RAW for the Oceans” with G-Star.
I left the tents at Lincoln Center and headed over to the American Museum of Natural History for the launch of his first eco-line with G-Star RAW.

The collaboration between Bionic Yarn (where Pharrell serves as the Creative Director) and G-Star RAW is groundbreaking because the denim is formulated by using recycled materials from ocean plastic. Ocean plastic is an epidemic threatening the environment and the lives of the sea animals that ingest it. “RAW for the Oceans” aims to combat the pollution crisis while creating beautiful denim.
At the event, Pharrell admitted that the subject of ocean pollution is heavy (like the video we watched of dead animals with plastic waste being dug out of their bodies), and he’d rather everybody be happy. “But if we do what we’re supposed to do [for the environment], we’ll really be happy,” he said.
G-Star is joining Pharrell in the mission to keep the ocean clean and pollution-free: they plan to integrate Bionic Yarn recycled material into existing product lines. Love that!
The event was truly well done from the speeches from Bionic Yarn and G-Star execs to the beautiful setting of the American Museum of Natural History to the ever-flowing champagne:

Adrienne Bailon twirled in a ‘fit from the RAW for the Oceans – can’t wait to get my hands on that blazer!

Thanks much, Roxie! My best friend is a publicist (I call her my “Samantha”) and she put this event together. It’s totally kismet (I’d love her even if she wasn’t in PR) but getting on the list for events IS all about making friends and getting your name out there. I feel a post coming on… ;)
