Confession: I’ve been called “cute” my whole life. Never beautiful, gorgeous, or fine. Just “cute.” At first, I was highly upset and longed to be classified in the “beautiful file” like my bestie Elaine. However, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to accept that being filed into the cute category had its advantages. For example, my cuteness makes makes it almost impossible for guys to identify my true age and you definitely don’t have to work as hard as you would when you’re considered “beautiful.” (As in meaning I can walk around without makeup on and still get hollered at by the hot guys on my block. Yesss!)
So, I was quite elated to see that MAC has a new beauty collection called “Quite Cute.” And, just as the name implies, it consists of “cutesy” pastel shades (perfect for spring!) and other oh-so-cute things such as engraved hearts in the Mineralized Blushes and lipstick names like “Playing Koi” and “Candy Yum-Yum.” Speaking of lipsticks, there are 5 in the collection and here’s how three of them look on my skin:
The top shade is a CremeSheen called Quite Cute; the middle is a Sheen called Playing Koi; and the last is a CremeSheen called Play Time. (Side note: I’m thinking that I may just wear that last shade sometime this week. I love a good lilac!) Each retails for $14.50.
There are four PlushGlass shades: (from top to bottom) Bubble Tea (a creamy pale nude); Fashion Fanatic (a creamy pale pink); Girl &hearts Boy (a bright light blue pink); and I &hearts U (a creamy mid-tone purple). Each retails for $14.50.
I must admit that I do love the cutesy heart etched into the Mineralize Blush. There are three shades: (from top to bottom) Giggly (a light pink with pearly plum heart); Sakura (a lavender with pearly magenta heart); and Miss Behave (a light beige with pearly mint green heart). Each retails for $23.00.
The eyeshadow collection is called (you guessed it!) Cutie Eye Shadow x4 and contains four shades. This palette costs $36.00.
And, of course, no collection would be complete without nail lacquers: (from left to right in group pic above) Little Girl Type (a creamy pale lavender); Ice Cream Cake (a creamy blue pink); and Mischievous Mint (a creamy pale blue mint). Each retails for $14.00. Also in the collection you’ll find a #7 Lash ($14.00); three lip pencils in neutral, bright yellow pink and dirty red brown ($13.00 each); Penultimate Eye Liner in Rapidblack ($17.50); Loud Lash Mascara in Noisy Black ($14.00) and Zoom Lash Mascara ($14.00).
The “Quite Cute” collection will be available at a MAC counter near you beginning April 7, 2011. What do you think of it, Glamazons?!
