TRY THIS: Dove Nourishing Oil Hair Care Collection

Besides receiving a brand new pair of Loubies from your rich boyfriend (which I don’t have just yet but I know that he’s out there somewhere!) the next best thing to adding a bit of cheer into a gal’s life would be to receive a complimentary blow-out from a celebrity hairstylist. And not just any celebrity hairstylist! Preferably the amazing Mark Townsend as he’s super funny, knows his stuff and his hands style some of the top actresses in Hollywood like Reese Witherspoon and Thandie Newton.

So, of course it KIND of made my life when I received an invitation from Dove to come into the swank Sally Hershberger Salon in the Meatpacking District and get a blow out from Townsend himself! Amaze. While I’m usually a bit skeptical when it comes to Dove’s haircare products (I’d yet to find anything in their line that made my dry, color-treated naturally curly strands look good) no one can be a skeptic when it comes to Townsend, so I figured that my hair would come out looking pretty decent. Boy, was I wrong! It ended up looking and feeling fabulous mostly due to these great new haircare products that I’m going to tell you all about.

My hair is pretty dry due mostly to the fact that it is color-treated (I can never be blonde enough in life; but the lighter you go, the more parched your strands tend to be!) and I also use heat style it at least once or twice a week. I always make sure that I apply a leave-in treatment before heat styling and I deep condition my strands at least once a week, so it’s never too bad. But, I was absolutely amazed by these products and how they left my hair looking (and feeling!) from start to finish.

This new collection is designed to smooth up to 100% of roughness and frizz and leaves your hair super soft and easy to straighten (if you have naturally curly hair such as I do).

The Dove Nourishing Oil Care Shampoo & Conditioner ($3.76 each) contains a Weightless Nutri-Oil blend of almond, coconut and light mineral oils to nourish your strands without weighing them down. A Fiber Active technology helps to protect against and repair damage.

The Dove Nourishing Oil Care Daily Treatment Conditioner ($4.74) contains a golden ribbon of Weightless Nutri-Oils inside that nourish and the white stripe contains conditioners to seal your cuticles locking in the nutrients and smoothing frizz. It also contains the same Fiber Active technology found in the shampoo and conditioner.

For styling, there’s the Dove Nourishing Oil Care Leave-in Smoothing Cream and the Dove Nourishing Oil Care Serum ($4.74 each). The  smoothing cream helps to control frizz and boosts shine (even in humidity!) and the serum smoothes frizz, adds shine and nourishes without weighing the hair down.

While I like dabbing the cream on my ends to combat dryness, I use the serum daily to add shine. (Side note: While I love hair serums, most are usually super greasy and end up leaving my fine hair looking lank and volume-less. EW. This serum is lightweight and adds the perfect amount of shine without weighing down my hair. Yes, I know. I sound like a commercial here, but I just wanted you to know how everything really works!)

And there you have it, Glamazons! While I could go on some more about this stuff, I’ll stop and let you scoop them up at your nearest drugstore to try for yourselves! Don’t forget to come back here and let me know what you think of ’em after you’ve tested them out.
