Glamazons,
I’m in serious denial that it’s already August. Why? Because that means summer will be ending in just a few short weeks and I’ll have to put away my mini skirts and short shorts for pieces that are more fall-appropriate. The silver lining is that some of my favorite summer staples can be worn well into the cooler months. The one piece that is sure to stick around? Culottes.
Culottes typically bring to mind images of horrid middle school uniforms but this season, the wide-legged pants gets a chic update that’s surprisingly versatile for styling. The high cut pulls you in for a defined waist, creating a shape that flatters any body type. Whether you are wearing them to work or out for date night, culottes will take you through every event on your schedule.
Not sure how to style your new culottes? Check below for style inspo:
1. Pair With A Crop Top
Because the length and width of culottes can vary, they tend to work well with tops that are shorter to highlight your waist. Provide the perfect balance for the loose-fitting bottoms with a fitted crop top. Finish the look with quirky statement pieces.
Kyrzayda anchored her floral green culottes with a black crop top for a figure-flattering outfit.
2. Choose a Monochromatic Look
If you want to make a statement that’s elegant and memorable, go for a monochromatic pairing. Keep things interesting with accessories in bold colors and prints.
Gary Pepper Girl is stunning in this peach monochromatic look, set off by white block heels and a turquoise crossbody bag.
Blair of Atlantic Pacific paired her black lace ensemble with matching strappy heels and shades. A pop of red lip tops this unforgettable look.
3. Style Culottes With Basics
Because culottes are already such a bold piece, keep the rest of your outfit understated with neutrals. It’s the best way to keep attention on your bottoms and nail a polished look for the office.
A crisp white button-down and statement necklace are the perfect complement to lavender culottes, as seen on Style On Friday.
Match Up Style nails this look with vibrant red culottes and a simple white top. Block heels and dark shades add a retro vibe.
4. Add A Floral Blazer
Don’t be afraid to experiment with a print blazer to add a little flare to your culottes. It’s a great way to update this trend for Fall by adding a layer that you can take on and off as the weather begins to change. Plus you can get more wear out of those floral summer pieces you may not want to put away just yet.
Taliah of Fashion Was Here went for a classic look with pastel culottes and a floral blazer. I just love how she toned the look down with neutral pumps.
Virginie Peny complemented her navy blue culottes with a matching floral print blazer for a sophisticated look that is perfect for the workplace.
