What I Wore: Off The Grid

Like many of you I’m sure, I headed home for Thanksgiving. Home for me is just over the bridge in New Jersey but the quiet, tree-lined streets seem like worlds away from the frenetic pace of New York City.

I totally need that downtime with my family when life in NYC gets a bit overwhelming. This year, I made a promise to myself to unplug (which I did except for one article) so “Off The Grid” is a fitting title for this outfit post. Besides, well, the obvious. I’m wearing a new grid print sweater.

I found it at Urban Outfitters and wasn’t so sure about it so I did what anyone does when they’re on the fence…I asked Instagram. Everyone was all for it. Sold! (It doesn’t take much to convince me…)

Taking a cue from Glamazon Jamiese‘s Thanksgiving post, I kept things comfy with a pair of boyfriend jeans (also worn here) and my black and white Bebe coat (worn here).

I wore my JustFab Luxe ‘Fairfield’ pumps because, well, they’re perfect. And after asking him repeatedly what he thought of them, my Dad said the green color is festive. So he approves.

Really, there’s so much for me to be thankful for this year. Number one, I’m grateful for my faith, my family that showers me with unconditional love and my wonderful friends who are by my side through the highs and lows.

I have a freelance writing career which I was scared to embark on at first but I’m now so glad I took the leap (thanks in part to my first piece for Elle online, dream come true!).

And I’m blessed to work on this blog and to have the support and trust of you guys: my positive, smart, stylish and sophisticated readers. I am grateful for the opportunity to share in my love of style with you all. And the more I get to know you on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, the prouder I am to play a part in growing a community of beautiful, powerful and fashionable women. This is a labor of love, and a blessing, and it’s enhanced my life so much.
