Glamazons,
There’s a revolution afoot at Chanel! Karl Lagerfeld created a runway on his “street,” Boulevard Chanel No. 5, outside the Grand Palais for the Chanel Spring 2015 show — and sent an army of model protestors marching down, signs and quilted megaphones in hand. The placards read “Boys Should Get Pregnant, Too,” “History is Her Story,” “Ladies First,” “Be Different.” Male model Baptiste Giabiconi‘s sign read #HeForShe, a nod to Emma Watson’s campaign and her recent gender-equality speech at the United Nations.
Even the casting was a nod to Womens empowerment with the fearless Cara Delevingne leading the army chanting “What Do We Want?” and modern feminist Gisele Bundchen taking a surprise turn on the runway.
Caroline de Maigret, Kendall Jenner, Georgia May Jagger, Edie Campbell and Joan Smalls also joined Chanel‘s feminist army.
To be honest, it’s hard to tell if Lagerfeld‘s feminist leanings will extend beyond today’s show but by the time Whitney Houston‘s “I’m Every Woman” blared for the finale, you couldn’t help but wonder if they were marching straight for the U.N.
Here are the deets!
Inspiration: Taking his cue from the ’70s Womens movement, the Chanel maestro sent an army of models down his faux street with signs in hand.
Key Pieces: Models donned paint-splatter coats, oversize suits, rainbow tweed skirts and black and white banner dresses. The revolutionary theme materialized in masculine and military references like army-green pants suits and pinstripe trousers. Handbags that read “Feministe Mais Feminine” communicated the theme quite literally.
Who I Could See Wearing This Collection: Blake Lively, Rihanna, Emma Watson, Kirsten Stewart, Alexa Chung, Keira Knightley, Victoria Beckham, Diane Kruger.

Are you joining the movement, Glamazons?
