Glamazons,

You know my relationship to haircuts. I was initially petrified of wearing my hair short but after I big chopped, I had a new appreciation for sassy, short haircuts. Rocking a short cut brought out a confidence I didn’t know I had.

Even though I’m growing my hair out now, I’ll always love that time I rocked it super short (and may go back to it!) so I love following The Cut Life on Instagram.

Created by Tahira Joy Wright and Garmai K. Momolu (above), the page features beautiful women with the flyest hair cuts on the ‘gram. Even Lexi‘s haircut was featured recently!

In honor of their two year anniversary, The Cut Life hosted an event during Essence Festival called #TheCutLifeLiveNola presented by African Pride.

Held at the Studio 504 Salon co-owned by celebrity stylist Shay Mitchell, the event featured live haircuts which I have to tell you are so fascinating to watch. The stylists make magic with those scissors!

We enjoyed a cake by B.Sweets, adorable cupcakes with phrases like “I Heart Short Hair,” and MYX Fusions cocktails.

Plus we walked away with some of my favorite African Pride goodies.

I’m crazy about the African Pride Silky Smooth edges control, and it was right on time in that New Orleans humidity. I have yet to find a better edge control that gives hold, doesn’t leaves residue and even smells good. I hoard them! LOL.

I also picked up the African Pride Bouncy Curls pudding, Olive Miracle Growth Oil and Moisturizer Lotion, Shea Butter Miracle Detangling Shampoo and more. Can’t wait to try and review all the products now that I’m home.

Glamazons, do you follow The Cut Life? If not, trust me it’s worth joining the movement. There’s so much hairspiration on their platforms for cuts, color, styling and more. I can’t wait until their next event! Thanks for having me, Tahira and Garmai!
