Glamazons,
Let me start by saying: my Dad isn’t the easiest person to shop for. For one, the stakes are incredibly high. He’s a very selfless and giving person so expect him to get you the most thoughtful, sentimental gift along with five cards to go along with it. The pressure’s always on to come up with an equally amazing gift for him. And to make matters worse, when we (my two siblings and I) finally find a gift we think my Dad will love, we discover he’s already bought it for himself. That was the case with his snow blower last winter. Total disappointment! Needless to say I was in a bind about what to give him this Father’s Day so imagine my excitement when Sears launched their Father’s Day gifting campaign: #DestinationDad.
#DestinationDad takes Father’s Day gifts to the next level. Instead of a godawful boring tie or mug, #DestinationDad encourages Father’s Day makeovers for the Dad in your life: a new wardrobe, a revamped outdoor living space (complete with a grill), a new and improved tool set, a tech overhaul with the latest gadgets on the market and the list goes on.
Though these makeovers sound like you’d need Oprah‘s bank account to pull them off, the great thing about Sears is they have gift ideas for every budget so there are tons of affordable options. AND I love that it’s a one-stop shop: every gift from clothing to furniture to tech is all under one roof. I found so many great gift ideas for my Dad for Father’s Day and year-round honestly (yes, I’ll be saving some for Christmas, his birthday and more). Shop some of the fun Father’s Day gifts I found at http://sears.com/DestinationDad.
Okay back to #DestinationDad, after you win Dad over with a makeover — be it a new wardrobe or a revamped outdoor living space — you can join us on social media by posting the before and after photos using #DestinationDad. Can’t wait to show you my Dad’s before and after pics!
Speaking of my Dad’s surprise, guys, it was pretty epic. I told him we were going to Sears to shop for my new apartment (see, he’s always doing something for someone else!) and he met me after work to head to the mall. Mike came along to film the surprise and my brother Chris played photographer but their presence didn’t give it away. I told him I was shopping at Sears for a blog post and they were documenting it (technically true!) so he didn’t ask any questions.
When we walked into Sears, the first thing I noticed was how friendly the associates were. They joked with us when Mike‘s video equipment made the buzzer go off, and they were busy helping customers find the items they needed. As for us, we found what we wanted with ease. My Dad and I headed to the outdoor furniture section where we checked out grills and furniture, two things I’m strongly considering for my outdoor space as you read HERE.
P.S. Pick up the gorgeous Ty Pennington Style Parkside 4 piece deep seating set pictured above here.
But it wasn’t until we headed to electronics that I let him know the real reason we were there: to gift him with something for a change. I told him he was getting a $2,500 gift card to Sears and Sears.com to buy whatever he wanted and as you can see in the pictures below, his reaction was priceless:
I can’t tell you how amazing it felt to bring a smile to my Dad’s face. Everything I’ve accomplished I owe to the example he’s set. He’s extraordinary successful but he’s still humble, still has integrity and treats everyone with kindness from the company CEO to the cleaning lady. That makes me so proud to be his daughter. I’m even more proud that he’s such a giving and selfless person. I watch him sacrifice daily for my siblings and I, for his Mom and even my cousins. He never does it begrudgingly. He never asks for anything in return.
My Dad’s been my best friend for as long as I can remember. When I was young, I would talk to him everyday after school about my little kid problems and he’d listen intently no matter how small my problems were in the big scheme of things.

I still lean on him even now. Throughout my life, he’s been consistently wise, honest, loving and kind. There’s never been a time when he hasn’t been there for me. I hope to be half the parent he is. I am truly blessed! I can’t thank Sears enough for giving me an opportunity to show my father how much I appreciate him.
I let him choose his makeover and being the techie he is, he chose a Samsung UHD Smart TV. He went back and forth between the 46″ and 50″ (both pictured) and settled on the 50″.
Though his current TV is pretty amazing, the Samsung UHD Smart LED TV has even more features. With internet connection, it’s a TV and a full web browser meaning you can access your favorite shows, live TV, video on demand, apps, social media, entertainment news, online shopping and more.
My Dad has a Samsung phone so he’ll love that it can sync up with his smartphone and act as an alarm if he wants. With ConnectShare™ Movie, he can watch videos, play music and look at photos through a USB connection. And finally, it also boasts 4x the full resolution of HD, incredible PurColor shades, a contrast enhancer, Ultra Clear Panel minimized glare. Anyone who knows my Dad knows he loves HD everything! Pick it up HERE.
Here’s a before picture of his current TV and stay tuned for the after picture once his Smart TV arrives:
He was so happy! I’m so glad it went off without a hitch (and I was able to keep the surprise a secret)! Watch video of the surprise here:
