Dress: Modcloth (PS: I tailored it a bit for a high-low hemline) | Jacket: Old (but love this one) | Shoes: Just Fab | Lipstick: MAC Cosmetics
Glamazons,
You already know how I feel about fashion rules. So the idea that you can’t wear white after Labor Day just doesn’t sit right with me. What if I see my white dress dangling in the closet and just have to wear it one day? Why should fashion rules stop me (as long as it looks nice)? Exactly. After adding a leather jacket (our #1 transitional weather piece) to this frilly lace dress from Modcloth, BOOM! I had a Fall-worthy look. That easy.
Speaking of leather and breaking fashion rules, I’m not the kind of girl who could ever be quintessentially ladylike, prim, proper and perfect (a la Charlotte from “Sex and The City” because I still reference those characters all the time in everyday life, lol). I can’t wear white without spilling something on it. I laugh loudly, dance in my seat for no reason and believe that the best NYC parties are on Wednesdays. So wearing frilly dresses in a traditional way is just not my thing. I could never be that “perfect.” I have to edge it up a bit for it to feel more natural to me. Hence my gladiator sandals and leather jacket and red lips. A little prissiness, a lot of attitude. It’s all about balance, right? What do you think of my look, Glamazons?
