5 Things I Loved About #BestManHoliday PLUS Pics from the #BestManHolidayGNO Screening

Glamazons,

When “The Best Man Holiday” was announced as a sequel, I was over the moon with excitement! You can see said excitement on my face when I ran into the poster on the subway while waiting for the A train.

I only waited 15 years for the follow-up to the classic feel-good film where I first fell in love with Jordan, Harper, Lance, Mia and the crew. I realized then I was a little bit Jordan (always working, confused by forehead kisses) with a touch of Mia (I can be wise sometimes, yall…or so my friends say).

I blogged about the upcoming #BestManHoliday as much as I could so the countdown to premiere day wouldn’t be so unbearable.

I hosted a giveaway for #TheBestMan DVD and #BestManHoliday soundtrack:

Glamazon Andrea hung out with the cast at the “The Best Man Holiday” Los Angeles premiere:

Yup, there she is with Morris Chestnut. Swoon!

And still, with all the hype surrounding it, nothing prepared me for how great the film would actually be.

I was invited to attend “The Best Man Holiday” Girls Night Out screening at the famous AMC Loews theater on 34th Street on Tuesday. Along with 3 of my girlfriends (heyyy Danielle, Toya and Christina!), I was geeked to see the movie three days before the premiere. *Squeal*

Before the big day approached, we got a package in the mail with #BestManHoliday t-shirts, blankets, the soundtrack and DVD:

I’m such a nerd I wore the t-shirt to the movies and watched the DVD the night before:

I arrived at the theater to realize I was the only one wearing the tee, LOL. #Loser moment but the movie was totally worth my excitement.

To be honest, I was initially skeptical that “The Best Man: Holiday” wouldn’t live up to its predecessor. It immediately proved me wrong — I now consider it an instant classic!

The actors boast the same chemistry and comedic timing that made the movie a hit the first time around. But the well-written, well-acted sequel stands out because of the brilliant plot.

It’s at once funny, wise, spiritual, sexy, romantic and even heart-wrenching. I cried, laughed, screamed and left the theater loving the characters even more than I did fifteen years ago.

Here are 5 things I loved:

-I loved that the plot actually addressed real-life issues. Yup, that’s all I’m going to give you! #TeamNoSpoilers

-I loved that for every tear-jerking moment, there was a scene that made you laugh until it hurt.

-I love that 15 years later, the cast is still just as beautiful from the stunning Sanaa Lathan (who werqued a black and white hi-lo gown with sheer overlay) to the handsome-as-ever Morris Chestnut who sizzled in his shirtless scenes (help me, holy ghost!).

-I loved the soundtrack, and how it seamlessly fit in with the plot. From John Legend‘s “Shelter” to Anthony Hamilton and Marsha Ambrosius‘ remake of “As,” the music was brilliant!

-I loved that the incredibly talented cast of actors, who we don’t see enough, were challenged in scenes that called for great emotional range — and they nailed it!

Even though I saw the film already, I plan to go to the movies again (and again and again) and I’ll get it on DVD when it comes out. Instant classic, indeed.

Since the movie centered around friendship, it was great seeing it with my girls. Check out some #BestManHolidayGNO pics of us acting up in the theater:

Can you tell we were a wee bit excited about the movie?

Are you going to see #BestManHoliday in theaters today? Share your reaction in the comments (but please, no spoilers). Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

In the meantime, check out a few of my favorite previews:
