What I Wore: H&M for the Leading Women Defined Conference

Glamazon Andrea is right about day jobs sometimes being a drag. But working in entertainment, our jobs (admittedly) do have more perks than most. For my job, such perks include attending the Leading Women Defined conference led by BET‘s CEO Debra Lee in DC.

Taking place at the Ritz-Carlton (which has the best service known to man), the conference features panels, award ceremonies and concerts by some of the most powerful, inspirational women of our time. I can’t even believe I was in the same room as women like Senior Advisor to President Barack Obama Valerie Jarrett, acting legend Cicely Tyson, Director and Chief Curator of The Studio Museum in Harlem Thelma Golden and so many more.

From Valerie Jarrett‘s opening speech to the entrepreneur panel that featured such luminaries as Pastry co-CEO Angela Simmons, Carol’s Daughter founder Lisa Price and bridal designer Amsale Aberra, I left feeling so rejuvenated, uplifted and focused.

And let’s not mention the fashion. These women had the meanest shoe game (and bag game) you ever did see! So for the occasion, I chose an outfit that naturally focused on the shoes.

I picked up a navy and black cropped blazer from H&M and paired it with a peach long-sleeve dress. I uplifted the look with a pair of snakeskin peeptoe pumps with orange detail from get this: Guess! Can you even?

What do you think of my look?

Glamazon Jessica
