In the midst of all this Fashion Week hoopla, I almost totally forgot about that fact that it’s also Valentine’s Day. Side note: I also almost forgot about the Grammy Awards on Sunday, too. I’m telling you, Glamazons: the craziness of Fashion Week can really mess with your minds if you let it so please don’t judge me hahaha.
With that said, I’d like to share with you a bit of advice that Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Lima gave to me. I had the pleasure of chatting up this bombshell beauty last week at the Victoria’s Secret store in SoHo about her Valentine’s Day plans and advice she would give to single gals such as myself. She shared with me that Valentine’s Day is actually the day that she married her husband (side note: they’ve been together for 3 years now!) and that one of the greatest moments in her life is the look he gave her when she was walking down the aisle. LOVE. But, she said all that to say that I should totally not even worry about being single on Valentine’s Day.
“Relax, go out…buy some sexy lingerie. And who knows? Maybe you’re going to find that special guy for you on Valentine’s Day,” she told me.
As I looked into her smiling face, I couldn’t help but think that she’s totally right. I’ve got way too many other fabulous things going on in my life right now to be worried about whether or not it’s going to go anywhere with the one guy that I do like. (Or this other thought that I have in my mind of do I even want this one guy that I do like to do more than he’s actually doing..which isn’t much…sigh.) So, before I go off any more tangents, I’d like to present you with three activities that you can totally do tonight if you’re single (or maybe you were attached and now find yourself single):
1. Make it a beauty night.
This one might seem like a really weird thing to do (as in why would I doll myself up for myself) but if you think about it in more depth, it makes total sense. Why wouldn’t you doll yourself up for yourself?! Because at the end of the day, you’re all you’ve got anyways. While I feel like every night is a beauty night for me, tonight I plan on going all out with it! Do those things you don’t normally do for yourself on a daily basis such as take a super long bubble bath (complete with fragrant oils, of course). Or treat your strands to a deep conditioning masque, put on a shower cap and sit underneath a steamed, hooded dryer for about 20 minutes or so. (You’ll have some of the softest strands in AMERICA if you do this.) If you’re really into beauty (like I am..OBVS) go ahead and create a fun makeup look for yourself using those cosmetics that you keep saying you’re going to use but never do. (Side note: And doesn’t it seem like those are always the ones that look the best on you leaving you to wonder why you waited so long to wear the stuff in the first place?! Sigh.)
2. If you’ve had so much fun dolling yourself up for yourself that you feel like you must go somewhere, then throw on a cute outfit and GO!
There’s not one rule that says if you’re single on Valentine’s Day that you have to stay home. If you want to go out, then by all means do it. However, I’d avoid most restaurants as you may be slightly annoyed by all of the couples there. But, if you insist on it, then make sure that you sit at the bar where you’re sure to meet other single guys who are just as hungry as you are hahaha. I also suggest visiting your neighborhood sports bar as I’ve found that lots of single guys hang out there in the evenings as well, regardless of whether it’s Valentine’s Day or not.
3. Round up the rest of your single lady friends and do something that you never do anymore.
While I can’t say that I know exactly what that activity should be (hopefully it’s nothing illegal haha) I can say for myself that living in New York makes it super hard to actually find time to hang out with your girlfriends. (Especially if most of them have boyfriends or are married.) So, if you happen to have some that are still single (like you) round ’em up and go sing karaoke. Or watch a movie and eat dinner together. It’s always the little things like that I do with my girls that make me really happy!
Whatever you do tonight as a single lady, just be happy. You’ll find love again sooner than you think. For now, just enjoy being single while you have the chance.
I’m sure I can come up with more activities, but now I want to hear what the rest of you single ladies out there are doing tonight. Share them with me in the comments section below!
xoxoxo
