#NYFW: Christian Siriano Spring 2012

Glamazons, Christian Siriano Spring 2012 at New York Fashion Week was incredible! Wow.

A little back story – I threw a rooftop party Saturday and had to run to Brooklyn in the middle of shows to get party supplies, etc. and then come back to Manhattan for the Christian Siriano show at 4pm.

Of course, I was running late (typical) and literally had to run over three avenues in heels (from 8th to 10th) at like 4:30pm to get to the show. The entire time I just prayed to the Fashion Gods, please don’t let me miss this show!

Panting, I made it there just as a group of people were rushing in and a security guard yelled “She’s the last one!”

Believe it or not, I boldy informed one of the organizers that I had a seat, “in the third row,” I said proudly and he looked at me as if I had two heads. “Lady, you barely made the show. Get over it. Stand here.” Next to him, a skinny guy in black holding a clipboard mouthed “You’re lucky,” without even looking up. And lucky I was.

The show was one of Christian’s best yet, and as you know, he’s one of my favorite designers.

Here’s the scoop:

Inspiration: Katharine Hepburn he said backstage according to Style.com. But we think this is Katharine Hepburn had she been a teenager in the 80s.

Key Pieces: Neon, neon, neon! Glorious wideleg pants, structured dresses, skinny belts, his signature stilettos all in the exuberant hue.

The neutral pieces (white jumpsuits, beige separates) were new for Christian and rooted the collection while adding that marketable factor that will make sure he achieves financial success.

But as soon as you thought he lost his “fierce” edge, brilliant gowns in feathered tulle and organza cascaded down the runway in coral (Spring 2012’s fave color, btw), neon green and muted beige.

Who I Could See Wearing It: Oscars, Oscars, Oscars! Christian has entered Young Hollywood red carpet territory with these exquisite yet elegant gowns. Still skewing young and fun, his collection would look darling on girls like Whitney Port, Hilary Duff, Vanessa Hudgens and more. (And sidenote: love that Heidi Klum and Nina Garcia came out to support in the front row!)

What do you think of the collection?
