Would you wear…Flatforms (Flats + Platforms)?

With Paris Fall 2011 Fashion Week coming to a close, I have to go back in time and remark on the hot shoes for the current Spring 2011 season. Namely, flatforms.

Flatforms were all over the Spring 2011 runway showing up with ankle bands at Derek Lam, on loafers at Prada, on strappy sandals at Michael Kors and Chanel and with gold glitter at Marc Jacobs.

As you all know, I’m the biggest fan of platforms – there’s nothing more comfortable I kid you not. I live in my black Christian Louboutin platform peeptoe pumps which feel better than flats! But part of their appeal is that the platform supports the ball of your foot (where I feel the most pain) and balances out the height from the stiletto heel.

Flatforms appear to give you the support of a platform or wedge heel on a flat shoe but they don’t. I tried them on and I have to tell you Glamazons, they’re not particularly comfortable. Or atleast the hard wedge sandals I tried on weren’t.

They aren’t necessarily great to look at either because they eliminate the arch which is the sexiest part of any woman’s foot (and basically, why stilettos look so glamazing).

However, they do offer a bit of height (perfect for petite gals like myself) when your look is too casual for a pair of heels.

I could see them looking fab at fairs in Brooklyn over the summer with billowy maxidresses, floral printed frocks or a pair of shorts. What do you think? Would you rock flatforms this Spring?
