Valentine's Day Street Style

Whether you’re gearing up for an extravagant date night with your Valentine, or you’re planning to top off cupcakes and champagne with your girls while avoiding the holiday aisle of the drugstore like the plague, you can still celebrate Valentine’s Day. Or atleast dress for the occasion (what Glamazon passes up an excuse to wear red and pink anyway?!). When I saw this Kate Spade New York Kimi Dress, I knew it was the perfect VDay dress for me: the round neckline, the A-line silhouette, the swingy skirt, the cap sleeves! I didn’t realize it’d be so boobylicious (seriously, where did those come from?!) but I figure if there’s any day to give a little cleavage, it’s Valentine’s Day. My Alice and Olivia Stacey Face pumps are super girly so I edged up the look with a leather jacket. I love this outfit because it’d be perfect for a date or a VDay party or a night hanging out, acting silly and taking pics with friends. I’m single but I’m not of the Mary Jane-ilk where I think that means you have to sit around and sulk when Valentine’s Day comes. That’s doing a disservice to the love you do have in your life and I have plenty of it: a beautiful bond with my family, friends who I’d do anything for and vice versa, and readers that I connect with and inspire (and you guys inspire me!) all across the globe. I’d be open to romantic love when the time comes, but I’m not lacking in any way. And if you’re single, I hope you feel the same way when Saturday rolls around. So happy Valentine’s Day to all my Glamazons, single or coupled-up! Wishing you all the love, chocolate and shoes your hearts can stand.

P.S. I shot this post in the incredible hotel I stayed at in Los Angeles, the Redbury Hotel on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The all-suite boutique hotel was right next door to the Avalon Hollywood, where Black Women in Music was held (all the details on that incredible event HERE), and apparently, it was the place to be. Lexi and I walked into the lobby to find Frank Ocean, J. Cole and Common there talking. Like, whet?! The decor was beautiful with red walls in the hallway, interspersed with ceiling-to-floor pictures of old Hollywood icons. The food was delicious (I ordered breakfast from the hotel restaurant, and dinner from Katsuya next door) and there was a beautiful balcony attached to my room. The staff was super friendly!
