St. Patrick’s Day is over, and many people spent the holiday flaunting their best green attire while getting chocolate wasted. I’m not one to rain on anyone’s emerald parade, but what happens on March 18 when the green confetti settles and you’re left with a fridge that looks like it should be featured in a Bud Light commercial? Don’t get rid of all the booze just yet because beer is a lucky charm for your hair!
Bet you didn’t know beer can do more than give you a buzz. In addition to being a “let-go-of-your-inhibitions” potion, it can also give you stronger, softer and shinier hair. The secret lies in the ingredients. Beer is chock full of ingredients that your hair needs such as malt and hops (which are super-rich in protein) Vitamin B and sucrose sugars (which adds shine by tightening the hairs cuticle).
Ditch dull tresses and go for shine like Zoe Saldana and Jennifer Aniston by following these steps for a good ole’ beer wash:
1. Shampoo and condition your hair as usual and rinse hair thoroughly.
2. Ring out excess water to make sure your hair isn’t soaking wet.
3. Pour room lukewarm or flat beer onto your hair. It can be room temperature or flat and can be in a bottle or a can. Start pouring at your forehead down to the tips. (Make sure you protect your eyes because this stuff can burn!)
4. Rub it into your hair, but not into your scalp, with the goal to saturate every strand.
5.Allow the beer to sit for about 10 minutes.
6.Rinse your hair using cool water until the beer is completely removed.
7.Depending on your preference you can follow-up with a light leave-in conditioner or you can just towel dry.
Glamazons, will you be treating your hair to a beer wash? Are you surprised by its hair-friendly ingredients?
Ciao Bellas,
Glamazon Margo
I am definitely surprised.Hmmm this might be worth a try. I have a lot of beer in my refrigerator so maybe I'll give this a try.
