Glamazons,
Though I love New York Fashion Week for the parties, lounges and celeb spotting, there’s something about the clothes at Fashion Weeks across the pond that just thrill me. Maybe it’s because my all-time favorite designers (Tom Ford, Karl Lagerfeld, Alber Elbaz, etc.) show their collections at Fashion Week in London and Paris. Whatever the reason, prepare for lots of swooning over the next couple of weeks of Fashion Month.
First up? Tom Ford. *Jay-Z voice*
The designer presented his collection in a dimly-lit mirrored room that housed André Leon Talley, Carine Roitfeld, Anna Wintour, Cate Blanchett and Colin Firth in the front row.
The clothes fit the backdrop: strong, seductive, mysterious and powerful.
Let’s discuss, shall we?
Inspiration:
Tom Ford said Spring 2014’s muse was “powerful, powerful, powerful, powerful!” A woman so strong and forceful “she could snap your neck with her thighs.” He looked for muscular models (an ode to ’90s Supermodels) to reflect that theme, and the fashion —- tough leather jackets, skin-tight dresses with short hemlines, thongs peeking out through sheer dresses —- was more in-your-face than ever.
Key Pieces:
Embellished minidresses, leather bodysuits, shiny leather jackets, menswear-inspired trousers, lace-up booties, sheer skirts and visible thongs, netted thigh-high boots, psychedelic swirl print long-sleeve dresses, gowns and dresses adorned with crystals.
Who I Could See Wearing This Collection:
Lady Gaga, Sasha Fierce, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Lopez.
Whew! This collection calls for lots of attitude. Any pieces you love, Glamazons?
Kisses,
Glamazon Jessica
