Glamazons, I have a love/hate relationship with Valentine’s Day. Of course, I enjoy being able to celebrate the special people in my life and show them how much they are appreciated. But the holiday has a way of making you feel something is missing just because you’re single on Valentine’s Day.
There is so much pressure for singles to find a mate, and for people in relationships to have a magical night painstakingly planned by their partner. But when you think of the fact that it’s just a made-up greeting card consumerist holiday, stressing over that one day does seem a bit ridiculous.
Being single is not a curse: in fact, it’s the best time to get to know yourself better and blossom into the person you were born to be. You can’t maximize your potential if you’re moping around wondering when Prince Charming is going to appear on your doorstep.
You can still have an amazing Valentine’s Day (and Galentine’s Day) being your fabulous single self.
Let’s get into a few activities that you should totally do if you’re single on Valentine’s Day:
1. Pamper Yourself – Give yourself some much needed TLC and enjoy some alone time. Rejuvenate your mind, body and soul by treating yourself. Schedule a massage at a spa, shop and rack up on those V-day sales, or try a new color with your mani-pedi. Basically, be good to yourself!
2. Send Secret Galentine’s Gifts – Sit with a group of friends and fill a hat with everyone’s names. Once you draw a name, you’ll be responsible for delivering a special gift to that person that you know they will love – chocolates, flowers, teddy bears, etc.
3. Random Acts of Kindness – Put a smile on someone else’s face and pay it forward. Buy a gift for someone you don’t know just because. Or volunteer at an animal shelter or a children’s hospital, giving love to those who may need a little extra in their lives.
4. Girls Night In – Round up your best friends for an epic Valentine’s Day party. Break out a bottle of wine and spend the night watching your favorite movies and indulging in treats. Feel like hitting the road? Skip a restaurant and go to a wine tasting, book a few lanes at the bowling alley, or order drinks at the local karaoke bar. Nothing is better than belting out your favorite tunes with one (or five) cocktails.
