Beauty Crush: I Got My Hands on SheaMoisture Cosmetics!

Glamazons,

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’ve been over the moon about SheaMoisture Cosmetics since the beloved beauty brand hosted me backstage at New York Fashion Week at Korto Momulu‘s Fall 2014 show.

The debut cosmetics collection, dubbed “A Better Way To Beautiful,” has the same natural and organic ingredients that made me fall in love with SheaMoisture‘s hair and skincare offerings.

I was lucky enough to get my hands on the collection and I decided to try the lip stain in Nicola, the lip crayon in Kenia, the wet/dry eyeshadow in Casandra and the lip/cheek balm in Boo-Kap Peach on my birthday. Here’s the finished product:

I loved the lip stain! It’s two-sided and has one side for the stain and another for a glossy topcoat. The gloss is a blend of natural waxes and shea butter so it’s super moisturizing and it lasted all day (even after my birthday dinner).  The crayon glided on evenly and made my lips look luscious since it’s also hydrating.

The eyeshadow was another fave. ‘Casandra’ is a gorgeous soft pink hue with hints of metallic shimmer. It’s highly-pigmented, lasted all day and blended on smoothly. Such a beautiful color!

At first, I was a little skeptical about the lip/cheek stain wondering if it moisturized my lips, would it be too sticky for my cheeks? I quickly fell in love when I saw how long it lasted thanks to its lightweight, creamy texture. It gave just enough color on my cheeks while moisturizing them with shea butter and safflower oil to keep my skin soft. You know I’m crazy about anything that’s actually healthy on my skin (since a lot of blush dries or irritates me) and this contains Vitamin E and aloe which nourished and protected my skin. For the win!

The sheer liquid foundation comes in nineteen shades and the pressed powder comes in sixteen shades. Ah-mazing! And on top of the range of shades, the products win when it comes to ingredients: they’re talc-free, paraben-free and shea-butter based, thus nourishing the skin and even softening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Even better? The line is eco-friendly. The lip gloss comes in bamboo tubing as bamboo is an 100 percent renewable resource. And the brand sells refillable individual compacts in two sizes to save on packaging waste.

CEO of SheaMoisture, Richelieu Dennis explains how the cosmetics collection carries out their mission of healthier products for our skin and the environment: “We are thrilled with the buzz surrounding our debut cosmetics collection. As a brand committed to using natural and organic ingredients in solution-based products, we recognized a need for the same level of quality and care in cosmetics. Our cosmetic offerings align with our ‘A Better Way to Beautiful’ mission to provide healthier options for all women to look their very best.”

Love me some SheaMoisture!

Great post! I REALLY like the illuminating powders and use two everyday to do my highlight and contour routine. The foundation give GREAT full coverage even thoigh it says it’s sheer, BUT, it’s not so great for us oily girls….I was a greasy mess 2 hours post application despite using my favorite primer (milk of magnesia…don’t judge!) I want to try some of the lip products now!
