Glamazons,
Believe it or not during my super insane schedule at Essence Festival, I somehow found the time to stop by the Samsung Galaxy Experience at the Convention Center. And I’m REALLY glad I did.
Even though it was their first time hosting a booth at the festival, Samsung brought it — so much so their booth ended up being one of my favorites. There were celebs, of course, since music and tech go together so seamlessly; everyone from Kelly Rowland to Trey Songz stopped by.
But the real draw for me was the style moments like their photo booth, their makeup makeover section, their Design Station where they literally created accessories in front of your eyes and their manicure bar where you could get complimentary nail art. All the things a Glamazon loves! And of course, I got a chance to check out the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge (LOVED their amazing camera and wireless charging features).
Check out some pictures from my experience at the Samsung booth:
Kelly Rowland looked absolutely stunning when she hit the Samsung Galaxy Experience stage for a Q&A with Adrienne Bailon.
She also brought along some of her new artists from her “Chasing Destiny” show (similar to star search, the upcoming BET show follows Kelly as she looks for the next great female singer). Love her sheer top!
Trey Songz crashed Kelly‘s showcase and everyone went crazy (he’s an Essence Festival favorite as we learned many years ago, LOL).
I loved that Kelly and Trey took the time to encourage these girls to follow their dreams, it was such a genuine and empowering moment. Even Jussie Smollett stopped by and you know as an Empire fan, I was gagging to have seen him and Yazz The Greatest in the same weekend!
And the handsome men star sightings didn’t stop there. Common came by to chat about his new movie “Suicide Squad,” winning an Oscar and more. Love him!
But the celeb appearances were truly only the beginning. We also treated ourselves to exclusive nail art at the manicure bar:
We stopped by the design station to get accessories made right in front of our eyes, and we were able to customize them (I scored a pink mirror!):
We played a supercool game where we guessed the artist/song based on a visual recreation of the music. I lost (of course) but it was fun to play!
Other guests got their makeup done at the Galaxy Virtual Shot station. And we enjoyed live tunes from the DJ in the Samsung Milk Music Lounge.
One of the most fascinating displays I’ve seen at Essence Fest was the Samsung Gear VR, which let users experience a 360° immersive world of virtual reality using the new Galaxy S6.
I’m a big kid inside so I love the virtual reality experience — and Samsung has the first consumer-grade version that’s available for purchase. I kind of want to buy it so my little niece Naomi who is a total science fiction fan can experience it!
Beyond just the Samsung Galaxy Experience at the Convention Center, there were some amazing offsite events for Galaxy smartphone owners too. If you owned a Galaxy smartphone, you could unlock experiences like a screening of Mary J. Blige’s London Sessions AND you got the chance to win tickets to the Esssence Festival Mainstage concerts.
Mary stopped by the Samsung Galaxy Experience at the Convention Center to do a Q&A with Essence Live‘s Dana Blair where she talked about the London Sessions. She also revealed she tries to work out everyday when she’s not performing. I need to get on her level!
Between the celebrities, the virtual reality feature and the fashion, nails and makeup stations, the Samsung Galaxy Experience blew me away. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for next year!
Did you get a chance to stop by, Glamazons? Do you plan on going next year? Let’s chat in the comments!
Kisses,
Glamazon Jessica
