Glamazons, what do Jennifer Lopez, Halle Berry and Madonna all have in common? Besides being over forty and fabulous, they’re all fans of Reem Acra. The Lebanon-born designer is known for her glamorous and modern tailoring, so it’s no wonder she’s a red carpet fave!
I had the privilege of seeing her collection make its debut on the runway at Lincoln Center and there were a number of looks that literally made my jaw drop. Reem moonlights as a bridal designer as well so her affinity for dramatic silk organza and chiffons was very much present in this new collection. From my viewpoint, the models were almost gliding down the runway in a steady stream of perfect pastels.
With London dance producer SBTRKT’s new song “NEW DORP. NEW YORK” serving as the perfect punctuation point, the show was a wonderful mashup of retro femininity, sexiness and modernity.
Here are the deets:
Inspiration: For her Spring 2015 collection, Reem journeyed to mid-20th century Paris. Her inspiration was the couturiers of that time along with the fashion photography of that era.
Key Pieces: Color was used delicately with soft hues in the collection with with dresses in blush, aqua, blue-grey and aubergine. Reem’s quintessential element in each collection is embroidery and for this season she used it in a new light-reflecting way. It was hard to miss the blinding crystals, beading and lace on the garments. And can we talk about the daring cut out dresses that came down the runway? I have to start doing sit ups now to get ready for next year’s collection. My abs were never ready!
Beauty Bonus: Makeup expert Pat McGrath served us natural realness on the runway – it was all about elegance in warm and soft tones. The ethereal, natural-looking makeup was a nice balance for the equally understated hair by Didier Malige.

Stunning! Well done to Reem and team — it was one of my favorite shows to attend thus far! What are your thoughts on the collection?
Always & Forever,
