A Day In The Life: @Power_STARZ Event With Lala, Omari Hardwick And Naturi Naughton

Living in New York City breathes new life into me in the most unexpected ways. Recently, I was blessed to attend the “Beauty of Power” event held at the posh Crosby hotel. The intimate soiree gave me the chance to mix and mingle with some of the cast from the hit show Power. Sidenote: do you guys watch that show? I’m obsessed!

Over drinks, white wine for me and tea for Naturi Naughton, I sat down with the Power actress to get clued in on all things Naturi. Glamazons, before we get to the interview, can I just telling you how I am still swooning over her gorgeous black dress from Tiger and Sweden and her statement making shoes from the Tamar Collection?! So hot!

Now back to my chat with Naturi, she dished on a number of things from how it feels to be on one of the hottest TV shows to what’s next for her. Check out the highlights:

On being on the hit show Power:
“It’s an amazing feeling, I feel really blessed. It feels like I have worked really hard to get here and I can’t believe that I am here. I am black woman in Hollywood and there’s so many of us want to be working, deserve to be put in shows and showcase in a leading lady light. This is an amazing journey for me, I am like ‘wow, Power really took off’ cause you never really know with a show. It’s an amazing thing when you have people who genuinely connect to your work. It’s rewarding.”

On her biggest career lesson:
“The biggest lesson is that I am enough. I think every artist or actress has felt like they are not enough and has felt under-appreciated. And has felt like maybe they won’t make it in this industry. I think that now I feel like know that I have gotten my footing and I now know I am enough.”

On what’s next for her career:
“Oh my gosh – I want to direct. I am little bossy on set and you can ask Omari Hardwick he’s like “Turi, you’re a director already’ I have a natural ability when it comes to certain things so directing is something I can’t wait to do and working on music. I’m ready to give myself to music again, so that’s what I plan on doing.”

Naturi is quite the petite powerhouse, right?! She’s so down-to-earth and kind, and I wish her all the success in the world.

The “Power of Beauty party” had such a cozy, fun vibe. With the flowing drinks and relaxed ambiance, it was really easy to talk to the celebrities in the room. I got the chance to meet Courtney Kemp, the brilliant creator of the show, and I also met the beautiful Lala Anthony for a brief second. Both women were so sweet that my night could have ended right there.

That was until Omari walked in. Yes, Omari as in OMARI HARDWICK! Sorry for the caps lock, Glamazons, but a man that fine deserves to have his name written in all capital letters.

Not only was he incredibly handsome but he was also super-friendly. Now, my night was truly made.

I had such a great time and I am just chomping at the bit waiting for Power to come back on air! In the meantime, I will make it a point to remember Naturi‘s words every time I doubt myself: “I am enough.” Therein lies the beauty of power.
