A Day in The Life: Miss Jessie’s Holiday Party PLUS Ode to Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft Curls

Glamazons,

You know the look a kid gets in their eyes when they walk into a toy store and practically start drooling over all the dolls and cars they want to play with? That was me when I walked into Miss Jessie’s Soho salon for their holiday party.

My eyes were seriously about to pop out of my head when I saw all the products behind the bar. Unlimited supplies of Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft Curls? Is this natural hair heaven?

Oh and about Pillow Soft Curls, it gave me my whole life and then some in October when I tried it for the first time. To be honest, I wasn’t into it at first.

Angela Yee is the spokeswoman and while I love her and her cute little voice and shoe addiction, her hair type is not at all similar to mine. I never thought we’d be using the same product so I passed on the Pillow Soft Curls hype.

Then, I read this article on Clutch where a reader commented that she loves Pillow Soft Curls and is a 4B (meaning she has tightly-wound, kinkier curls). If she likes it, it may work for my hair too, I thought.

So I usually would email the publicist to try out a product instead of going to the store but since I was in a hurry, I stopped by Ricky’s to pick it up the next day — literally right after a date with my boyfriend. Yeah, I was in THAT much of a hurry.

He was sweet enough to find the product (while I was distracted looking at Halloween costumes) and go to the register to pay for it…which was all good until the cashier rung it up and it was $20. *shudders*

Since it was too late to put it back and everyone on line was watching us, he paid the 20 bucks…but I knew in his mind he was thinking “$20 for this small tube of cream?! Where they do that at?”

Sure enough, later on he tells me “that curl stuff better work for $20.” LOL.

It totally did (and is totally worth it!).

Nothing else holds my curls better (most products will have my curls popping for an hour or two and then, frizz city). Pillow Soft Curls has my ringlets in full curly mode for days. I can wash-and-go, do a pineapple overnight (a pineapple is essentially pinning up your hair to preserve the style), steam my hair in the shower the next day and boom, done.

Glamazons, I didn’t even think this was possible before Pillow Soft Curls!

Here’s my hair after applying:

And two days later:

Amazing, right?

So I was beyond excited to sing Pillow Soft Curls’ praises to Miko Branch (she’s 1/2 of Miss Jessie’s founders; Titi Branch is her other half) when I met her at the holiday party:

She was the sweetest, and said I was pretty when we all know she’s the one serving gorgeousness to the kids!

She also met Christina of LoveBrownSugar, who looks like her long lost sister:

The party was a great kiki because I got to meet Miko and see all my blogger friends like Ty of Gorgeous in Grey, Danielle of Rhapsodani, Daisy Lewellyn of CocoaFab, Nikki of Vibe Vixen and so many more!

We all had a blast dancing to reggae tunes by DJ Dime Piece and eating REAL food (I’m talking jerk chicken and macaroni and cheese…at an ‘industry’ party! *Back flips*).

PLUS the gift bag gave me this life and the next. I got my hands on the Super Slip Sudsy Shampoo (trying today!), Super Sweetback Treatment and a new bottle of Pillow Soft Curls, which I’m sure will make my boo happy.
