Glamazons,
We love when you hit us up with fashion and beauty questions (afterall, this is what we think/write/talk about all day…we’re happy to share all we’ve learned!).
One of our beloved readers, Te’Miymah hit us up on Facebook, saying:
Hola! I have a question: I workout most of the week, but I know you’re not supposed to wash your hair daily so I usually rinse it then put a leave-in conditioner or argan oil….what else could I do? This weather is drying my hair out!!!
Let me just start by saying kudos to you for not allowing the fear of ruining your hairstyle keep you from the gym!
You’re right: it’s not recommended to wash your hair after every daily trip to the gym. And with the cold, your hair needs all of the moisture that it can get.
Here are a couple of things I recommend:
1. Deep condition your hair with a masque once a week.
This is a great way to moisturize your hair and rejuvenate it from the dryness that you’re experiencing.
2. Try dry shampoo.
Have you tried dry shampoo? It works! Dry shampoo absorbs oil in your hair and scalp, and leaves it clean and smelling fresh without water.
3. Co-wash!
Co-washing (washing your hair with conditioner instead of shampoo) is also a great option because you’ll be cleansing the sweat from your hair but it won’t be as harsh on your hair as shampoo, which contains sulfate.
4. Choose the right ingredients.
Lastly, pay attention to the ingredients that your leave-in conditioner contains and aim for water-based products that will seal in your hair’s moisture.
