Happy Earth Day, Glamazons!
In the past few years, I’ve become more conscious of the importance of practicing a more sustainable lifestyle. Whether it entails using recycled goods or using less water, I’m all for the cause! Some of our favorite beauty brands are also on board and are showing their support with special Earth Day deals.
Here are some ways that you can get your glam on and support this fabulous holiday:
1. Participate in Aveda’s 24-hour cut-a-thon (proceeds benefit Clean Ocean Action)!
The Aveda Institute is hoping to break a Guinness World Record for raising the most money for charity by giving haircuts. To reach this goal, Aveda is hosting a 24-hour cut-a-thon in several large cities such as Tokyo, Los Angeles, Moscow, Sydney, London, NYC.
All of the proceeds (100%) will go to the local charity, Clean Ocean Action, whose goal is to restore, improve, and protect the water quality of the ocean and local water ways in NY/NJ.
There will also be a silent auction with donated items from local restaurants, shops, galleries, staff and students. Betel restaurant will provide catering with an authentic approach to Southeast Asian flavors and ingredients.
Services include: Student Haircuts $20 (1 hour); Instructor Haircuts: $40 (45 minutes); and Specialty Blow Dry: $10. There will also be complimentary hand, scalp and neck and shoulder massages!
And that’s not all! Global Artistic Director for Aveda, Ricardo Dinis, will also be on hand at the Aveda Institute (233 Spring Street) offering everything from drastic makeovers to subtle Spring/Summer style changes. Sounds like a blast!
